I'd also like to know if this is possible.
Also, you create a HDF file on a real amiga from the contents of your hard drive? |

I made a HDF file from my 15MB SmartFileSystem system partition with tsgui (without gzip) but on the PC I couldn't use it with winUAE. Filesystem not recognised when mounted as an additional device (NDOS on workbench).... probably something I'm doing wrong with winUAE.

Run TSGUI again, select the SFS partition and choose "partition information" from the menu. It will tell you what you have to enter into the fields of the "add hardfile" dialogue in WinUAE. (Surfaces / sectors / reserved and block size have to match the original partition, otherwise the HDF will not work in WinUAE.)

AFAIK SFS has some _absolute_ block offsets in its superblock (offsets from the beginning of the disk including the RDB, not from beginning of the partition) that are used while mounting.
Mounting will fail if they are not correct (and they are not if it is regular HDF file created from RDB harddisk or hardfile) If I remember correctly, there is utility floating somewhere that fixes all absolute offsets. |

I didn't realise there was a new version out (I was on 1.8), it looks like there is some useful new stuff in there for winuae. Cool new icons as well.
Toni if I check the new box in tsgui "Full HDD Image" to create (quoted from the manual): "an image of entire hard disk with partition table (RDB) and all partitions. This corresponds to the RDB mode in WinUAE" will this help? Last edited by rare_j; 09 September 2006 at 01:24. |
