MiniMegi... PAL?
Hi all,
any way to hack this http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/...roducts_id=915 so as to make it work on a PAL system? |

Aye, thanks mfilos. Unfortunately I can't desolder a j-leg chip. Need to buy a few nozzles for my hot air gun. But then again I never desoldered anything with hot air. I'm afraid of messing up totally...
Thanks anyway. |

Use very thin unsolder-able plate to separate legs - safety razor blade (just dull blade before use even on ordinary stone) is more than ok - gently insert blade between IC leg and pad (use of course soldering iron) - it works.

You can ask Cosmos if he has time to help you out with a task like this.

The MegAChip has a socketted Agnus which you can change for a PAL one (must be exact same Agnus BTW!)
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DKB-MegAChip-2...-/270724380313 The one above needs an 8375 318069-10 Or you could buy a PAL one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Megachip-2mb-c...-/150580875373 Unfortunately double the price but hey! |

FYI, that software workaround requires KS3.1

Hey all, many thanks on your rich feedback.
So it seems using an NTSC Agnus on a PAL system mainly poses problems (and then again only in certain cases) when using floppy games? If yes then maybe I wouldn't bother doing the desolder/solder job on a MiniMegi. Or I could start using it at once and see if I really need to mod it later. Note that I'm planning to use this on a Rev6A A500. EDIT: ah alexh posted while I was writing my reply. I am using WB/KS 3.1. EDIT 2: alexh, 10'000th post closing in... planning a party or sumthin'?!
