Also past AROS fan (i think I remember Saimon from the IRC group from ten years ago).
Would really love to see AROS68K getting developed into something.

It just makes too much sense...

So just because an IP troll company vexatiously decided to cause legal hassles, which will be likely defeated in a matter of months, we should just give up on 35 years and millions of dollars worth of AmigaOS development?

Honestly, don't you want a plan B (c?) handy in case 5h17 goes down?

If the IP troll decides he could even shut down AROS in a minute.

Remember that unfortunately API's are copyrightable (see Oracle vs Google case).

So no one is safe.

This is truly unfortunate for all.

I still have the project files, though... Maybe I will do something else with it..

Imminent release also for AROS One 68k (a few more weeks), great work, fixed themes like the x86, best configured Zune, added a toolbar in AmiDock style (WBDock).
AROS One 68k has also been updated with the latest Night, now icons no longer create artifacts while moving, improved compatibility with OS3, WHDLoad now works perfectly on AROS One 68k as many other applications previously not supported.

@Solksogen
How did you make it work under Amiberry?
I tried it under Amibian and only got black or red screens. Probably something to do with aros rom..
Could you share your config? I suppose they are intrerchangable between Amiberry and Amibian.

Nothing special. I set it up as a A1200, with lots of ram.
did you use both of the rom files provided?

That sounds great. A good reason to check out the latest Aros 68k nightly build soon. Thanks for the hint!

Yes, I've just tested it, but this only works with the icon.library 44.4 of Aros when you use Wanderer. The dragging routines seem not to be compatible to Workbench 3.1.4, 3.5 or 3.9. With my lib the dragged icons get completely invisible if transparency is on, with the Aros lib sometimes too (all dragged ColorIcons are disappearing). And icon information is still freezing the system. So, I still prefer to use DOpus5 on Aros 68k.

I never liked Dopus5, moreover AROS 68k with Dopus5 is very slow in opening folders with icons

@peterk
Maybe if you identify what was different about the dragging, the compatibility could be improved. Is it in icon lib or in wanderer? Wanderer is going to be phased out in favour of a completely new version but small fixes still are being done in particular for m68k. I can invite you to slack too.

No, I'm not a fan of DOpus5, but I prefer to use it on Aros 68k as long as there are problems with Wanderer. Btw, my library is not optimized for Wanderer, because it's nearly impossible to identify its task reliable. If DOpus5 on Aros needs a lot of time to display icons then enable "borderless icons are fully transparent" and use my option IconsToFastMem (and maybe also DOnoColormapping + the "custom drag routines", which is faster but less nice looking).

@wawa
To be honest, I don't know how the dragging routines of Workbench, DOpus5, CGX4 or Wanderer are working. Usually, I just have to offer them a planar second image of the icon in Gadget->SelectRender or use BltMaskBitMapRastPort() and they will care about the dragging. That's not the job of icon.library. CGX4 has the nicest TrueColor dragging routine with 50% transparency.

Maybe Wanderer is using the alpha channel now and the ARGB format is really supported by the Aros 68k cybergraphics.library? In that case the name of this new option should be: "Use alpha channel for dragging" and not "transparency". But the alpha channel is not supported by P96 yet and there were also several bugs with ARGB, so that I recently decided to use the RGB format only on RTG screens.

Update: Indeed, Aros 68k uses the alpha channel information for the dragged icons if this transparency option is enabled, but mega strange, the alpha channel is not used for the motionless images! Why that? I don't get it ... My library is already doing the same now as the Aros version, and next, I will fix the dragging of ColorIcons. Done.

You can download the new Alpha version for Aros from the IconLib thread.
