Matt Chat 82: Interview with Rebecca "Burger" Heineman
Matt interviewed another game programmer that I've never heard of, who worked on epic classics. (But hey, it's a nice surprise!) Just to mention a few Bard's Tale, Wasteland, Dragon Wars, Battle Chess, Neuromancer and lots and lots of Interplay titles. Yay. Enjoy!

Girl. Maybe Matt ist bold enough to broach that matter later?
Btw. Gray Matter is out. Maybe it's about time to contact Jane Jensen again? It seems like there is a revival of point&click lately. |

Hehe. She mentioned it a few times in context, but I could tell she wasn't comfortable with the topic so I didn't pursue it. I'm just glad she actually agreed to be on the show, unlike so many others who apparently have better things to do (ahem JJ).
thanks for posting! |

Ha! It's definitely not going to be on the air anytime soon, though I thank you for the compliment. Considering how few people watch these videos, it's nothing short of miraculous that I'm able to interview the people I do.

[ Show youtube player ] is out!
I especially liked the parts about hardware hacking and the atmospheric Deathspank intermezzo. : Well, to be honest, I liked this part much better than the first. |

I'd like to make a suggestion Matt for future vids... Would it be possible to have a quick text list at the beginning of each video just listing a few titles the person being interviewed has actually worked on? I know a lot of people might already know this but with me I didn't have a clue until I'd watched a big chunk of the interviews.

I'll see what I can do, Lorfarius, though people like Becky have worked on so many games it'd be a very large and confusing list. Plus, there is always Mobygames.
Paul, sure you can be in the audience if I'm ever on network TV. |

Great as always Matt - your work on these interviews is truely brilliant. A great set of Youtube vids covering the birth and early steps of gaming.

Nice set of interviews! I wasted so much time on Bard's Tale, and it's construction kit. |

great interview ! I'ld love to hear how she parted with interplay (but maybe thats not a good story), what she thinks about the goldbox series, or maybe any project interplay worked with SSI ?
speaking of which, Matt you have any pHlans to interview people from original SSI ? |

I'd be interested in the story behind Interplay's Star Trek adventures. They were really very good. But Becky supposedly wasn't involved.

Thanks, Gilgamesh, Demoniac, Coze, and everyone else who commented on this thread!
@coze, I didn't talk to her about SSI stuff. I would love to talk to those guys, though. I did interview Keith Brors of SSI a few years ago, but haven't been able to get back in touch with him. We chatted on the phone for an hour or so about the gold box engine. As you might know, I've been having some problems with YouTube recently and may not be able to continue the series in its present form. I'm not sure what the future holds, though. |
