There's only one little problem with above product. If you examining the picture's a little closer! you'll notice it's merely a poor photoshop job of some else's pictures (check the commodore badge).
Just another bad joke, in a long line of bad jokes! They should stick to cheap Chinese imported bathroom furniture |

Anyone here willing to take advantage of CUSA new franchise? Minimum order of 5 units! prices ranging upto $5000. I believe this special offer is only available for the first 100 people, who sign-up to CUSA fantastic offer.
Quite a slightly different approach to the earlier $1000 'upfront' deposit, for a new Amiga. The question is: is anyone that stupid by buying into this scam/ponzi scheme? |

Thank god it's only $1,995 now!
I love it how they reduced the price. Meaning they didn't have to charge it like that at all at the first place. What a piece of shit!! |

No shit? You mean they actually know they aren't going to sell many machines and thus make them a hell lot too expensive for the hardware? I'd never thought about it that way...

Update: Citing "consumer outcry," Commodore has lowered the entry price of the machine you see above to $1,995. For those of you who paid $500 more yesterday -- well, as least you've got a refund headed your way.

*shakes head*
I just don't 'get it'. The only business plan I can see in action seems to be to get older nostalgic enthusiasts to overpay for a PC in a custom case... wouldn't a smarter move have been to simply sell reasonably priced custom cases for enthusiasts to do with as they will? I could see the appeal for a case for someone wishing to build a dedicated emulation machine - I'd have probably done it and housed a PC in one running X-Amiga or maybe even Amithlon. Given that new esoteric and expensive platforms are (IMO) also beyond the reach of many, and that todays graphics and sound cards are pretty much the logical extension of the 'custom chip' concept, the only really 'Amigaish' option for a 'new Amiga' would be the ability to run the latest OS by Hyperion (who, see above, are currently following the esoteric hardware route). So a business model that gouges the few likely customers and alienates your largest potential starter market - to me - just seems to make absolutely zero business sense. Honestly - a show of hands - *IF* all that was being sold here was a reasonably priced and decently made custom case (and by reasonable I mean obviously slightly more expensive than what is already available, but not by some massive amount) - to house whatever you wanted to put inside (SAM, minimig, emulation PC, hacked up classic AMI) - who would have a different opinion of this move, and who would be a likely customer? I'm curious. |

Actually a decently priced 'lookalike' case would really not be a bad idea (not that I would be personally interested, but I see the point). You can buy their C64 case on its own, but of course it's totally overpriced : http://www.commodoreusa.net/CUSA_C64Select.aspx

After a bit of research, we've found that the Amiga Mini case is actually a Streacom F1C, the motherboard is a Zotac Z68ITX-B-E Supreme. Add in a Pico PSU, some DDR3, an i7 CPU and a Blu-Ray drive and you'd be just about a match for what they are setting as the Amiga Mini, except that you would have saved yourself a bundle. Download Commodore Vision OS (it's Linux Mint with a wallpaper skin) and wallah!!

CUSA aka Commodore USA have finally decided to listen to the Commodore Scene rather than targeting the general public with poorly made Commodore badged personal computers with lame versions of Linux on them.
The new ‘Commodore 64 Plus’ will have the very same specs as when it was first released in August 1982 albeit a few new extra bits and pieces to bring it up to date with current technology. Below is a list of a few of the extra enhancements which you may find appealing ;-) -Dual SID with Stereo out -Original Kernel Rom and JiffyDOS (Switchable) -Scart, VGA, and HDMi (1080p) -SDCard HxC Floppy Emulation -4x DSub Joystick Ports -4x USB2 and 2x USB3 -120GB Solid State HD -Original and C64C Design -Compatible with Original Commodore 64 Applications and Games. Prices haven’t been confirmed yet, but if its anything near the pricing of their new machine the ‘Amiga Mini’ I would start saving now! Source: http://www.commodoreusa.net |
