install a dos bootblock? it may not wok on everythingh, tough: i know i have ruined some disk this way in the past, but for instance, Killergorilla has fixed 2 NDOS disks from Elvira 2 ita version by installing the bootblocks from the DOS english versions of them.

if it was once a dos disk, you maybe be able to use file recovery tool such as disksalve.

If it was never a DOS disk in the first place, you will never be able to pull files off it then! Crackers and WHDLoad patchers analyse the disk to work out if there is an internal file structure on the disk and sometimes break the image into pieces but it requires a lot of assembly knowledge.

Why not tell us what this disk is and why you want to break it into files?

There is a tool written by Mr. Larmer (R.I.P.) which can extract files from NDOS disks. Obviously there are many restrictions in that. Eg. one of them is that the "files" need to be packed with some packer supported by XFD, so it might have recognisable header. The tool is called Track2File.

Sometimes you may give it a try and load NDOS disk file image into the text editor and if you are lucky and game uses standard Amiga IFF files, try to rip them by hand using copy/cut/paste.

The game that needs to be taken apart is Deuteros
This is needed for the Deuteros PC project... what has been running for... well a long time

I remember to have written a tool like Track2File, called riperator : it could recognize many formats (ilbm,crm,pp20,stc,rnc,modules mod, med, okta,fc,startracker,) and decrunch packed files or play modules before save.

But you need to be careful as well. Sometimes it can find some dummy file headers (which are not real files). It can cause crash or suspend of the machine. My advise is to use this tool wisely, for e.g. do not force it to unpack any files. Unpacking can be done after ripping and with some AmigaOS knowledge you can easily figure out which files are dummy and can not be unpacked and which one are real and can be unpacked.
