knowing all the machines out there at the time (my first encounter was 1987), Amiga was and still is the only machine that impressed me so much thinking 'this is the next gen computing'... even today's consoles still can't make me revive this feeling of being blown away by a relatively cheap computer. Hell, do I miss that feeling today, the step forward was just hallucinating.. graphics, sound, OS, etc!

It is amazing to think that even today PC and Mac OSs still don't have some of the innovative and easy features of the Amiga OS. Quite mad. Datatypes, startup sequence, locale, MUI, very small OS memory footprint, allowing booting the OS from floppy... etc.

It is why we all still love the Amiga so much.

I can has access to all memory parts and hack into it with a single button on my ARmkIII.

I love the memory mappings... it just makes sense!

PC had something similar in software, but never ever came close to what was possible on Amiga.

Who says we go to the next CES show and re-launch the Amiga.... and play the famous boing demo.... it'd make more news than the next boring crop of PC's/consoles

Only the Amiga makes it possible to code in AmigaE!!!!

Only the Amiga make it possible to runWinUAE under Windows... HEY, let's face it, without the Amiga, we wouldn't have WinUAE

Only the Amiga makes it possible to bug Tony Wilen about useless/needless/pointless features we're missing in WinUAE :P

Excellent, and numerous, demos that run on very specific hardware. When you watched an Amiga demo, you knew it ran on the same 68000, graphic chipset, sound, etc. (And then later AGA machines, of course) But the typical Amiga demo didn't require VGA, or 50 mhz, or some new sound card etc etc that always seemed to cheapen PC demos. Code a demo that looks like crap? Just require better hardware. Can't do that (so much) on the Amiga.

Only thing comparable to today would be console demos, and those don't seem so plentiful, or as good, as the Amiga. (I could be wrong about that one.. I've never been one to collect, say, SNES demos or whatever.. Only recently checked out demos on the PSP, and there's only like 12 once you remove ports..)

*Only Amiga makes the best diskloading sounds ever (especially heavy-loading brr-brrrrrrrrr it's music to my ears

*Crunching/decrunching is cool with the color-bars and flickering LEDS

*Animated Icons when clicking on them in Workbench

*Workbench has no horrible Windowslike registry with millions of entries like c539875-578357-4897387895 that eventually lets your windows die if corrupted or because of too much leftovers of failed uninstalls

*No spyware
*No swapfiles
*No services

*No Superfetch and Indexing crap running in the background
*Amiga has perfect smooth scrolling screens, try that with 60hz vsync :-D
*Kickstart! It's like having the Windows GUI in the BIOS chip.

Would be cool to see a PC Game-DVD actually running its own bootloader and filesystem starting-up right after the PC-BIOS screen without having to install anything or the need of Windows/Linux etc, like some NDOS Amiga games had..

"some NDOS games"....
Like... Lotus Elite Turbo Challenge II
Toyota Celica Rally
Superfrog

And how about botting from a DOSdisk straight into your game? Like Eye of the Behoder? Frontier Elite II? Elite +?

Elite+ (IIRC, I even bought the original for Amiga) had it's own bootloader... "only" the widespread version of some 300kb (and 300k starsystems, for that matter :P) came on normal WB accessible disk

Only the Amiga Makes it possible to actually LOVE a computer
