looking for this tune from a cracktro

the cracktro in question is this:
[ Show youtube player ]

everywhere online says the tune is "a space journey at" by Supernao however the version in the cracktro is slightly different especially the beginning. compare:
https://demozoo.org/music/259894/

anybody has this different version?

If you played the mod direct from the Demozoo player it seems to lop off the synth sample and goes straight into the mod where the beat comes in. If you download the actual mod from anywhere, it plays correctly afaik.

i downloaded this mod several times from different places and they all start there did you even try to download it yourself?

the version in the cracktro has that extra intro part before the drums come in, that's literally what i am asking for

This is a vblank tune if I remember correctly, I think it needs to be played with vblank timing to get the proper long delay in the beginning.

EDIT: Just had a look, and yep, this is correct.
You can play it in the PT2 clone correctly by pressing CTRL+F12 after loading it (or FN+control+F12 on Mac).

The Fxx command works a bit differently in vblank timing mode.
If vblank mode is enabled, then the whole F00..FFF command range is used to set the amount of frames (ticks) per row. If CIA timing (default), then F00..F1F = frames per row, and F20..FFF = BPM.

What happens is that the song uses F20 and F80, and these are handled as "set BPM" in CIA mode, so the speed is much faster than it should be. The intro is then way too short.

Addendum:

You can also enable vblank timing mode on original Amiga ProTracker by going to the SETUP screen somewhere.

You can't detect if a .MOD should be played in CIA or vblank mode without using dirty heuristics on load, so this is a known problem for accurate playback. Many intros used vblank timing based replayers because it had a smaller code size (and wouldn't need to take up a CIA timer).

Great information. Maybe this explains why some mods don't seem to play correctly on my Amiga's, I'll try this in future.

Possibly, but it could also be because of a bad import, which is especially common for 15-sample .MOD formats (Ultimate SoundTracker). It's a nightmare to import these correctly in a universal player.

What is the nightmare? Are these incompatible in some way that is not obvious to the player?

There is no tracker identification data in the header for 15-sample .MODs, so you have to scan the module to guess (heuristics) what tracker it was made with. This is important because effects/commands were interchanged between UST versions. There were a ton of unofficial UST hacks.
