Stop it now Atari knocked out something quick and dirty with a purchased 5 years old OS with way worse specs for games and demos, ofc the games would not be as good They did almost catch up with the STe 4.5 years later, and it still had GEM, so it sucked. (BIAS WARNING!) Both the Falcon and A1200 with accelerators were too expensive and too little too late.

The only ones that are still around were the ones that both made great hardware and an OS that is made for MMUs, ie. doesn't require reboot on program fail, ie. were as safe to use for serious work as Windows. (Big car ad asterisk and </sarcasm>, but what the hell.) They did their own fucking awesome CPU ffs

And yet software devs abandoned all of those within a matter of years, so they sort of died. Users switched from "the coolest games EV4R!" to "Cool games and something stable and with software that I can use for serious stuff too", I guess. Owning a computer happened to people of all ages and not just to the below-18.

The ST and Archimedes and the Amiga were great when they came, let's not forget that we bought them just to see the dazzling graphics All but ST were innovations. These are the facts, gentlemen.

Sadly it never had the scale of software/hardware development that the Amiga/Atari had (and in many ways still have)

No I'm not trying to turn this into an Archimedes Vs Atari Vs Amiga mudslinging contest.

That said... I'm getting an Amiga soon
Atari Lynx are cool tho... I've still got mine
When I had an Amiga, I saw an advert in the Pixel Magazine about the Archimedes with a big font - Emulates XT.
I used this some months as a joke to a friend who was Amiga fan but did not have one. I said to him - "Why don't you buy an Archimedes - it is so good, that it can emulate XT?".
He said he better buy Amiga.
One year later I emulated XT on my Amiga500 with PCTask, so this was not Acorns advantage.
I used to have Atari MegaST with a hard drive and PC emulator card inside, which was given away to me. The ST part was so useful, that the previous owner partitioned it's 20MB hard drive to two 10 MB partitions - one ST and one MS-DOS partition. I tinkered with the ST for about two days then gave it away. The most annoying was that even if it had a monitor, the games were not displayed on it. Later after I gave it, I was told by an Atari user that I had to connect it to color TV to see the games and not only hear them. What a joke. Whatever, it was too late, but I do not feel sorry. Now I can play all the ST and STe games on my AmigaOne with Hatari at full speed, and even some Falcon software. Does E-UAE play on Atari hardware at full speed? Please exclude ARAnyM which is not Atari hardware.

Dear Friends,

Last night I was lieing in bed yet again and thinking back to the days when I used to argue with users of the Atari ST whilst a beautiful imaginary woman was massaging my back.

Over the years my rage for such youthful antics ceased but in recent times I have found that my anger has returned and to this point I will be purchasing every Atari ST ever made and inserting them into the nearest waste disposal for recycling.

Your Amiga friend,

Paul_s now bankrupt.

I cant believe this thread is still going lol. I started it off 8 months or so ago lol. Anyway I personally love all retro computing Amiga and ST alike. However I dont think anyone who knows anything about computer hardware would deny the Amiga was the better machine but this does not mean the ST was not a good machine as it really had its uses such as in music! Think they are both great machines even though my machine was the Amiga.

No I meant what I said. My Falcon plugs straight into LG Flatron L1715s and works perfectly.

My Amiga 1200 does not.
