Possibly. But 3.5/3.9 are bloated pieces of crap, once 3.1.4 is released I'm sure many users will be making the switch.

@Jope
I a do not use ToolsDaemon, but I just downloaded version 2.1 and tested with latest beta version of 3.1.4, and it seems to work without issues. @All To clarify a bit: 3.1.4 goes way beyond 3.9 regarding the core components (rom & disk), but lacks those third party apps like multimedia players, web browsers, video players, etc. |

Ciao gulliver, 3.1.4 can integrate with 3.9 or AfA-OS extensions?

With AfA-OS, I dont really know. I dont use AfA-OS and it is not straightforward to install, and I dont know how well behaved are its internals. |

Personally, I'm hoping that this will continue to evolve over time and completely surpass 3.9 and AFA-OS, both being the worst, most bloated and glacial OS the Amiga has ever had inflicted upon it.
That the team are staying with 3.1 is as it should be, let's leave that other crap behind. Very much looking forward to purchasing a ROM image of this so I can finally upgrade after all these years! |

I strongly believe it will replace all of my 3.1 installations and my only 3.9 installation. :-) |

@gulliver
Strange perhaps you do not care AfA-OS because otherwise it would take 2 minutes to install it, it is simply necessary to "copy" the AfA-OS extension, and add 2 commands in the startup-sequence on a well-installed OS 3.9 BB/1/2/3/4 RTG OS. With AfA-OS and WinUAE all applications and games work as they should [ Show youtube player ] @ Dunny This is your thought, AfA-OS is the best OS Amiga RTG that makes the system modern and above all functional! Why despise what good has been done, as well as despising the work done with passion! [ Show youtube player ] Last edited by AMIGASYSTEM; 15 September 2018 at 12:00. |

It's really, really slow on my unexpanded A1200. Major fail.

Thank you for your work on this useful project. Please tell me if there will be a version of BetterWB tailored for AmigaOS 3.1.4?

Guys, please leave arguments about your preference of using 3.1 vs. later operating systems (or vice-versa) out of this news thread.

This is what I am planning on running, AmigaOS 3.1.4 for all the little fixes instead of patches on Patches and then the BestWB Pack for all the little utils etc, saves having to install them all your self. |

I live in the USA... I was never fortunate enough to own any real Amiga hardware (Amigas were far less commonplace in the States than in Europe, and I was just a kid who was at the mercy of my father's computer-purchasing decisions), but I've been a UAE user for a long time and this 3.1.4 release is exciting news! Please, please make the new version officially available as a bundle of ROM and adf images that can be used with emulators.
Also, rather than treating this forked line of 3.1 as a traditional packaged/sold product (in which you try to at least break even on your development costs by selling copies of the software itself), has anyone at Hyperion given any serious thought to moving it to some kind of Patreon-like funding model instead? I've gladly set up recurring monthly donations via Patreon or PayPal to various "labor of love" projects that I personally use or find interesting (Wikipedia, KeePass, DuckDNS, AROS, these boards, etc). I'm happy to do it and to know it's compensating developers for their time and keeping these essential but otherwise not-commercially-viable projects alive. I doubt there will ever be enough classic Amiga hardware (or clones/recreations of it) out in the world again to make selling units of new AmigaOS versions a break-even endeavor... but I bet there are more than enough Amiga fanatics willing to set up $5-$10 monthly recurring donations to sufficiently fund ongoing development indefinitely. Just food for thought. |

I'd be willing to do that.
