New icons for Classic Workbench - LO RES

Hello everyone! First of all, sorry if this is a repost.

Now, I'm using Classic Workbench at low resolution (640x256).

Is there any way to use new icons for this resolution? Is there a new icons pack for classic workbench in this low resolution?. I tried some of them but Icons are HUGE and I can't use the OS properly.

My Amiga 1200 config is 030 with 128Mb.

The reason why I use low resolution is because I use my Amiga on a standard TV. I have no place at home for a monitor.

Thank you all!!!

Hache.

Have you considered trying Amikit for real Amigas?

I don't have any tips regarding the icon sets but usually on the Amiga "low res" would mean 320x256 and "high res" is 640x256. Then you can have either low-res interlaced or hi-res interlaced where the vertical resolution is 512 pixels. Maybe this helps when searching.

Most replacement icon sets are designed for square pixels and look a bit stretched in the default hi-res non-interlaced mode.

Agreed . Just wanted to offer an option. Haven't tested that version of Amikit myself.

Nice to read 2 opinions of two guys that haven't tried AmiKit and telling it has no support, when I'm here posting almost everyday. Then perhaps I shouldn't.

Hache you can use smaller icons searching something on Aminet. Fast search gives me these: http://aminet.net/package/pix/icon/SmallMWBIcons, or the Prolite icons I think are smaller too http://aminet.net/search?query=prolite

The icons can be changed in whatever amiga OS, CWB or AmiKit.

If you really want/need more room you can do another thing: With Magellan you can have not a single icon on screen and open all the drawers by name. Magellan is different of WB; it will show you all the files by name in a drawer at first click. Unfortunately CWB doesn't use Magellan.

Hope this helps.

I have tried Amikit in WinUAE but came to personal conclusion that I like ClassicWB better, this I agreed upon. Nothing to diminish Amikit, your efforts on bringing it to real Amigas or saying there's no support when there is - for both packages .

As far as I'm aware, there are no Newicons available sized correctly for 640x256 resolutions so it's MagicWB style icons only.

Great. Thank you all for your help. Now, I'm graphic designer. So I think I can design the low res icons by my own. Question is, how to replace the original icons with the ones I could design?. Which format and image size should I use. PNG, JPG? Etc...
Is there a path or drawer on DH0: for the original CW icons in an specific image format?

Thanks!!!!

You can use a png image and rename it as .info. That will give you an icon, but it won't change when selected. If you want to use that image converted as an icon with a yellow border when selected you can use Imageconverter and a command like this:

Code:
imageconverter #? -f DPNG -glow $FFD000 -h 42 -od Ram: >NIL:
You can change -h 42 to other size.

There is also a program that uses these same commands and lets you change them in a batch. James' workbench has got it: http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=903804&postcount=45

Imageconverter isn't perfect thought. It was going to be updated, but that was on july.
