F key function WINuae problems
New Poster suffering a simlar problem with F keys on WINuae Startup but seems to be a different cause than previous thread
Woody57 Suffering the same problem. As long as keyboard is activated (checkbox) under "input" it renders the function keys unusable. Tried deactivating it and started the emulation and everything is fine. Unfortunately this seems to be the only setting that is not saved. Everytime I startup WinUAE this damn checkbox is activated again. WinUAE is 1.1.1 Any suggestions? Last edited by woody57; 02 December 2005 at 08:14. does not replying mean there's no problem? considering the read/post ratio it does. way to go. at least there's older versions that work. >8/ |

Not essentialy TRUE breadbaker
As your question is added at the bottom of somebody elses thread & given the fact HIS question was answered the likelyhood of the SAME number of people answering your question is diminished : Therefore it would be better to start a NEW thread for you single question EVEN though it IS related |

OH, that's a point - you're prolly right.
This prob has driven me mad ... took me a long time to figure out how to get the function keys working. I was somehow astonished that this particular setting is not saved. Is there someone that has similar probs and found a workaround through ini tweaking? This is driving me nuts as I am not able to start images without the GUI. I HAVE to uncheck the keyboard checkbox in "Input" first just to be able to swap disks later. |

Do you mean only function keys stop working? Any other keys? What if the problem is non-working DEL key? Do you have function keyps mapped properly in input-panel? (maybe you have old incompatible default.uae?)

I have not tried any image that will take some keyboard input ... will do next
I have not remapped any keys ... it is all set up like after unzip/install, so basically default settings WinUAE ships. |

Hmm, I had no default.uae at all.
I attached the one I created now and the uae log. I got my Competition USB working and left the other input controls at defaults. Keyboard inputs are working fine (tested with Lotus 2). It's just the Function Keys (Alt+F4 and F12) as I can tell by now. If I run UAE windowed I can just press the middle mouse button and everything is fine. In fullscreen I just ALT+TAB out with no chance to access the configuration (even from the task icon context menu it's not possible). This is giving me a headache since I had used an older version of UAE long time ago and never had such problems. I simply don't understand what might go wrong here. |

Best guess is somewhere around 0.8.26-0.8.23 - not really sure though. Since there are quite some older releases available I'll try to dig it out. |
