8-bit Game Show Start's Monday on the Dave Channel
Maybe worth a watch? Its called Go 8-Bit
Dara O Briain returns to Dave and this time he wants to play some games with the likes of Russell Howard, Bob Mortimer, Rachel Riley, David James and Jason Manford. Based on the smash hit live Edinburgh show, Dara O Briain's Go 8 Bit sees celebrities battle each other at a host of classic and contemporary games - everything from Star Wars Battlefront and Temple Run to Pong and Tetris. Well, we're game. Are you? (The answer is Yes. Yes you are.) http://dave.uktv.co.uk/shows/d...-go-8-bit/ Starts Monday at 10pm with Chuckie Egg |

Lots of bad pun jokes, lame ass celebrates and non 8bit games on consoles such as the wii |

[ Show youtube player ].
It does sound like a bit of a me-too, bandwagon-jumping exercise with the usual line-up of panel show talking head comedians. I would have thought Dara at least would know the definition of 8-bit. |

Rachel Riley playing Sex Games!
Saw first episode, so so. I did like that they did a brief history of the game before they played it. |

So this thread has gone from 'those games aren't 8-bit' to a Rachel Riley-fest?
I'm a big fan of Rachel too, she was awesome on The Gadget Show a few years back. I don't get home from work in time to see her on Countdown, but I do occasionally catch 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown at night I missed Dara's show, despite seeing an advert for it. It certainly looked cool... but from what you guys have said I might be better off watching re-runs of Videogame Nation. |

Back on topic, I caught last nights episode. They played Tetris on Wii, Chuckie Egg (on Wii?), Tekken 1 on Playstation 1 and Star Wars: Battlefront. The last game was essentially Bust-A-Move, but they used a custom controller (thanks to Makey Makey) - 4 people dressed as videogame characters stood on square metal plates! 1 person from each team played the game, whilst the remaining team-mate stood on another metal plate to become the 3rd button. They called it Bust A Moob! I enjoyed the show. Yes most of the show is the contestants and presenters waffling on, but it was fun to see the old games |

If anyone forgot to watch it (like me), it's repeated on Friday at 8pm.

I think it's a good modern take on the GamesMaster challenge format, I think this is the only way it could work unless you had some access to developers for really early work in progress features but with the internet I can't really see that sort of stuff being relevant by the time it's broadcast.

i think saying "its not 8 bit" and "full of puns" is a bit silly.... the title is simply a pun itself on "Go Ape Sh*t" so it is not actually obliged to be playing 8-bit games
i was a bit dubious at first, but once you let go and dont take it too seriously it's quite fun. The only issue is the occassional annoying guest, but thats true of any panel show! |

Agreed it is quite fun. Now that Videogame Nation is no more we need a games programme on TV, and I still find this fun to watch.
This weeks games were: Asteroids FIFA Big Buck Hunter (arcade version) Trials Fusion Kororinpa |

Bugger! I missed all of it.
I was quite looking forward to it, but missed the lot. I'll catch up on Dave On-demand.... I honestly don't care how rubbish it is. It's fun to watch other people play video games... Especially if they're Rachel Riley! Did someone say "three from the top?" Gotta see that |
