I dont like those guys at all... Mainly because I dont like C64 remixes/covers that DO NOT USE a single C64...

if they playeda C64 live, it'd be different.

The music from their video...i know it from a hacker intro of "THE NEW AGE"

. I know this song was also common on the C64. Anyone have a MOD or a SID of the original they covered ?

BTW: I like what the do. Yesterday I d/l some remixes of the original Giana Sisters music, metal and disco versions, and I think they're cool. I like remixes.

Cool

Martin Galway will always rate amongst the top C64 musicians for me. His "Times Of Lore" intro tune & other tunelets were excellent.
What ever happened to him? After he left Sensible Software,(back in its infancy, when they did games on the C64), he seemed to vanish from the gaming scene?

Tribute???!! I care little how long this has taken them to put together - It's a disgrace! It is the very reason why I despise remixes, vocals do not belong, period.

Please keep in mind, this is only my opinion and personal hatred for boy band & the majority of pop music today.

If you'll excuse me, I must now spend the next hour or so recollecting my childhood memories (which have near diminished) in front of the 64.

Martin Galway is not the best on the C64 IMO (Hülsbeck is much better), but anyway, he is somebody who would NEVER endorse something like Press Play on Tape. He said that he would NEVER remake his C64 tunes because they were meant to be played on a C64... And I agree completely. It's like playing a piece for piano on a violin. Difefrent instruments.

I'm with Sane here, no C64 no joy. I enjoy remixes that do have the C64 in them (like most Instant Remedy mixes), but I always preffer the real things, untouched.

Stick out tongue lol, you are never happy

@akifromfantasy: of course it is not TheRealThing©, it's just fun
@§annylekangourou: maybe I have over-estimated the power of the 'tribute' english word

RCK, are you drunk?

I'm always happy, but I'm very picky with the SID!

For some inspired SID music that I like, check the guys from Khomathron. and Subversive Elements do some nice stuff as well... Bart Kleptka's Bruce Lee remix is real fun

And for REAL C64 freaks on stage, with REAL C64s live, check out Welle:Erdball (http://www.welle-e.de)

See, I'm not that bitter

@Akira,

Martin Galway appears to endorse PPOT. This is what he posted to the C64rms group:

I know you guys do these things to satisfy yourselves, but I can't help feeling gratitude when I hit the play button on all the MP3s, CDs and now AVIs of my old tunes. (PPOT nice work! good luck with it) Hopefully you are all composing original music too!
Thanks again -MG

That's fucking strange, since he says this on the STIL:

Martin Galway's own comments are denoted by (MG).
"I will never do rearrangements of those tunes on other instruments, the SID is what they're meant to be heard on. It would not be 'updating' them to put them onto a different instrument. If you ever hear music from me on today's instruments, the tunes will be all-new (and probably a lot better)." (MG)

Either he changed his mind, or he just wanted to make them feel nice :P

i agree

i can listen to SIDs if i want and i don't mind listening to remakes, but i'll probably only listen to the remake once... and listen to the originals again and again.

anyone heard the Sonic the Hedge Dance remix, they also have the video too!!??

Wink

@Akia & Sane. I actually support your comments 100% re the remixes, I just enoyed Martin Galway's stuff on the C64 period!
Though I might debate you about his C64 ranking Akira, m8!

Heulsbeck was a great C64 musician, but was far better & more superb musician on the Amiga than he ever was on the C64,(what tunes are his best then?), IMO.
Galway was a better C64 sonics man!
