Purchased back your OWN original Amiga years later?

Has anyone been lucky enough to locate and RE-BUY your original amiga back after selling it?

Even years later?

I'm not talking "the same model or pack"

I mean the EXACT same computer. The one you sold?

If yes, would be great to hear such a story.

I've read some stories about this happening to people. Ranging from getting their computer back from family to more accidental means.

It would be nice if that happened to me. But only if it has been good raken care of. But as I wasn't very careful with mine back when I was a teenager, I don't know if I want to though. I remember jamming a Rambo knife in the diskdrive to get out hesitant floppies. And hitting the machine and all...

Also an M1764 Amiga monitor I sold in the late nineties is back

No chance - I have absolutely no recollection of selling my A1200 but obviously I did since I don't have it any more, which actually speaks volumes in itself of what I was like in my 20's

I rebought an A500 some years ago, but it was not the same as I had back then. I dont regret having a different A500 now, but I sometimes think I should have kept the few disks with my own programs. So sometimes I look at ebay Amiga Disk sales to look for Disks with my very own handwriting on the label (of course just for fun and very rarely, as the chance probably is less than one in a million).

So if anybody finds a simple homebrew GFA Basic program that lets you play darts (cricket) please shoot me a note

I sold my stock A1200 to my brother in law’s family about 25yrs who and a chance conversation with them about 15yrs ago let me know that they were going to throw it out and that I could have it if I wanted it. Needless to say I said yes please and a lot of thank yous. So I didn’t exactly BUY it back but I was reunited with my original machine.

I sold my A500 to a friend early 1994 just before Commodore went bankrupt to get some cash to buy A1200. After Commodore's death everyone was saying Amiga is done so I didn't go for it. My friend soon discovered there were no new games for it and sold it back half price late 1995. He only got 2 new games for it those 2 years, soccer kid and mortal kombat 2 (I think). After that point the only (good) new games I got were some PD like dragon tiles.

I would hope to find my A500 I sold in 1993 to a british friend in Saudi Arabia. I had it painted a custom camouflage in 1992. I would love to know what happened to it. Many enjoyable years with it. I only sold it to save up for an Amiga 1200.

To date I have lost: My A500 1.2, A4000 Desktop, A1200 Tower, and a pair of normal A1200's.

I didn't sell any of them either, but I'll be fucked if I can find them.

WOW really didn't expect many people would have been this fortunate.

Great stories.

I have little hope but when I visit my parents next, I'll be spending some time in the loft in the hope that maybe I kept a hand written receipt from when I sold my Amiga. Who knows.

What I do know is, my Dad still has my old custom built Pentium 2 desktop sitting un-used, with an nVidia TNT2 card, running windows 98 / NT duel boot, so I may see if I can resurrect that....just because it's there.

And re those going "I've no idea where stuff is but I didn't sell it", I can partly sympathise.

I am presently looking through boxes for old PC games muttering "I dont remember selling that but I must have!" and really regretting letting some stuff go including:
-Vice city, full in box with all posters etc in place.
-Return to Castle Wolfenstien.

And the other thing I still think back on is......
The A500 that my boss game me just before I moved to Australia....did I throw it away......or did have a change of heart and put it in my parents loft?

Im pretty sure I know the answer, but I live in hope I'll find it in the loft.

i tried to reacquire my old C64, but the people who we sold it to didn't remember who bought it from them.

Never sold my A500, but it has been upgraded so many times, that the only original parts remaining are the case, tank mouse and PSU. :-)

I had stored all but my a1200 and 48k spectrum at my parents, before moving 500 miles away, though stored was a lose term .. about 5 or 6 retro computers were thrown in a shed, inc my original a500. There they sat for nearly 20 years until last summer.

on this visit I went for a computer hunt as they were moving house, only found my boxed +3 spectrum and a500. Sadly the a500 box had been squashed to hell, the a500 inside was missing most keys and the top grill was smashed in. Didnt have enough luggage space to bring back with me so decided to bin it, the cost of postage it didnt seem anywhere near worth it. Perhaps, in hindsight, should have taken it and restored.

I moved many miles away and during that time (about 5 moves later) I had completely lost the a1200, no idea where it went. The 48k was my original and still boxed machine and is completely safe. A bunch of games for the amiga remain though but sold all my cd32 disks about 10 years ago

Which +3 box did you have?

Have you now kept that?

+3 is next on my "to re-buy" list.

It was the Curry's Live Ammo pack, pretty popular with parents was Currys! Can remember getting them to return the disk at least twice as Rambo didnt load .. turns out the +3 had its issues, one of them getting old games to run ..

Still, outer box has a ding or 2 but quite good condition, whereas the inner Sinclair box is in mint condition. Only had to replace the drive belt which had melted away, worked perfect!

List of missing in action was gutting tho, aside from the a1200, there was atari 800xl with disk and tape, a 130XE, C64, 2600 and amstrad CPC. Wish id taken better care of them really, if only we'd have all known the retro itch would burn years down the line hehe

At the time, I had sold my A500 to a work colleague for his daughter. I got it back (and I still have it) a few months later because it was not compatible with IBM PC software.

I exchange it with a USRobotics 14.4K external modem...
