Amiga User Returns

Hello all,

My first post

In the summer of 1987/1988 when I was 15 years old I worked at the local toy shop during the school holidays assembling bikes to save up for an Amgia 500. At the time I owned an Amstrad CPC6128. I bought the Amiga 500 via mail order with an RF adaptor and the game The Bards Tale. I absolutely loved the game and the machine was used extensively for games until I went to Uni 3 years later to study IT. At the time, I sold off my Amiga to buy a PC as all my studies centred around the PC.

Recently, I purchased a copy of the magazine Retro Gamer and the nostalgic appeal of retro gaming and all those fond memories flooded back. I had to get myself an Amiga again, emulation would not cut it for me.

This week I purchased on eBay an Amiga 1200 with 8mb ram expansion board (jumpered down to 4mb), 4gb internal compact flash harddrive, and a PCMCIA compact flash adaptor. I have connected this directly to my Dell 2408WFP 24" LCD monitor via composite video and RGB (using an Amiga RGB to VGA adaptor) and it works fantastically for both WB and games.

I am a real Amiga newbie having been out of the scene for 18 years. Took me ages to figure out I was actually successfully transferring files from my PC to the Amiga via PCMCIA compact flash because I was showing only icons, not all files in WB.

So please be patient with my newbie questions I am sure to ask in the future.

Regards
Adam

Welcome to the EAB. If you've got questions, you'll find answers. No doubt about that.

Welcome! We have similar setups! A blast huh?

P.S. I went through the same thing with the icons, then I remembered DirOpus!
