This is probably a daft question, but hey, it had to be asked.

GOG released a version of the 1997 Westwood game, Blade Runner, quite recently. They needed to use SCUMM VM in order to get it running, so....... could that be made to work on an Amiga?

It is reputed to be an excellent game. [ Show youtube player ]

Supporting 16bit games is non trivial and out of question for AGA. There is simply not the code there for AmigaOS. Unfortunately I don’t have the time to spend.
8Bit games should in general work, though some will be extremely slow. Monkey3 is one of those games - it runs but is too slow to play meaningfully. The ScummVM code is just not written with 50MHz CPUs in mind :-)

But Gabriel Knight is 256 colors. It runs perfectly in my old Macintosh 630 with a 68040.
Please, try it.

I uploaded a built of ScummVM 2.2.0 for OS3/AGA/RTG to the zone, with as many engines as would compile. I did not test it thoroughly. I briefly checked Gabriel Knight and SpaceQuest6, but both hung - I suspect a bug somewhere.

Good thing is that this endeavor also uncovered a new compiler bug in Bebbo's GCC when trying to compile the SAGA engine ("I have no mouth and I must scream") ;-)

Out of interest, have you tried running the Mac version with Shapeshifter/Fusion on an Amiga?

I remember I tried it years ago and yes. it worked in Shapeshifter.
But the nice thing is that it can run natively in the Amiga's ScummVM.
Gabriel Knight is perhaps the best or one of the best games that SIERRA made in all its history.

I'd argue that running the 040 version of Gabriel Knight in Shapeshifter might actually be considered _more_ 'native' than running ScummVM. Remember that ScummVM is a potentially inefficient re-implementation of the SCI2 engine, while the actual port is the original engine running.

You're right but all sierra/lucas games havent alternative language versions (no spanish for example) and no real MIDI (MT-32 or SC-55) support if I use Shapeshifter.

The issues with SCI games is likely related to optimizations I had implemented. When SCI32 is enabled, these optimizations must be disabled (because they are incompatible with SCI32). Maybe that selective disable is not working correctly

Only v1.8.1 has partial support for SCI32 games.

http://aminet.net/package/game/misc/scummvm-1.8.1-rtg

Official support for SCI32 will appear with v2.x versions
