The EAB "old timers" thread
After Burseg found my virgin EAB thread , nostalgia overcame me. I couldn't believe I wrote that over a year ago!
Then I had a look at members in my first thread (and hence a year into their EAB life also) that seemed to have disappeared off the face of the earth! Iv0, Khephren, Mangar, MrDig, ptrchiappe, Malc to name just a few. Anyone know what happened to them? Are they still here reading this? Since Fred is bringing up the past, let's have a thread for all members over a year old! You deserve it for sticking with the program! Perhaps you might want to link your VERY FIRST POST! and name the AWOL members in it because we never said they could leave! EAB is for LIFE! People might be able to shine light on what happened to them. Or perhaps they’ll post here! More importantly however, I want to see the oldest EAB members right here, right now. Almost there
I just checked my first post, a compiler request, issued in 12 September 12th, 2001. So in a few weeks more I am turning one year EAB old.
edit: quite a long request, as I've read the rules and I did try to show all my efforts to find the program, the dead links... 100% newbie at the time... those were the days I was not a total leecher yet... A Total Tosec Set was something that seemed way too hard... impossible to get... I am feeling a little nostalgic... HEY, it was less than a year ago!!!! helped me with "Reach for the Skies", so I posted it here. Then you helped me there and we got to be m8s! |

I registered here 14 June 2001 because i was searching Prison and Bobic from BTTR pointed me to this board. That was the object of my first post (which now seems disappeared) and i obtained a working copy (different from the common available version which was bad). Since then, i read EAB every working day and will continue until my bosses allow it; when they'll cut it, i will be obliged to buy a modem (and maybe another computer too) but i'll still be here reading (and occasionally posting :laugh ). |

Sorry ptrchiappe! Great to see you're still here!
I thought a few I mentioned might still be around, that's why I started this thread. You had the honour of posting in my very first thread on EAB, how does it feel! I'm really enjoying reading members first posts. I bet it's bringing back a few memories for everyone. Sad to here one or two may have been lost, but that's the nature of forums. Rcks server may have had teething troubles in EAB's early life. I know I said 1-year-old members only, but if you've been here long enough for your first post to seem nostalgic then join in the fun like jmmijo. Last edited by Bloodwych; 26 July 2002 at 12:01. |

Wow..Ptchiappe...I remember that thread I think someone posted a config fo ryou, and I may have posted a screenshot, if I am correct. I bet the post is still around.
Update: Ok Pete, here is your first posting thread! http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?...ghlight=prison And the other one that I remember: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?...ghlight=prison But no config or screenshot. I think that thread is dead. I swear I remember a screenshot of the guy in his cell. Last edited by Fred the Fop; 26 July 2002 at 11:59. |

In that thread were posted both screenshots and a couple of zips of the game (yes it was before The Zone). Stressing my (not so good anymore) memory, i remember that i had wrote if somebody could help me because i had no access to Maincore's Dreamzone which was the only place that had Prison; then somebody downloaded it for me but it was non-working and somebody else posted a working version (not available on the net) and that was the first time i saw Prison working again in 12 years (yes i had to wipe off some tears ). Probably it has been deleted because of the attachments, or by mistake. Doing a search by username, the first thread by me still available is this: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=620 , written on the 29 june 01, so i was already two weeks on this board. |
