ZX Spectrum 128k demos?
Okay, I´m enough of a demoscene and retro junkie that I´ve now ordered yet another machine to fill a need for a new niche in my computing room. Emulators are not enough and youtube certainly isn´t. There´s nothing like the warm feeling of running a cool production on real hardware. So I will soon have a ZX Spectrum 128k with divide!
I´d like to get some beeps beeping and colors clashing and stuff running on my screen soon after I get the machine up and running. What should I look forward to and where to get and what? I don´t even know any spectrum demoscene group by name or anything. Name 3 essential demos that I just have to see that have been released over the years, please. |

Okay, I guess I could go by the order of prods most thumb upped on pouet.
Seems like almost all of them are made in the 2000s... http://pouet.net/prodlist.php?platform[]=ZX%20Spectrum&type[]=demo&order=thumbup But I was hoping maybe there were some demos that were significant enough for someone to tell a little bit about them to someone like me who is totally out of the loop having only followed pc, amiga and c64 demos. Oh I might go and register myself in some non amiga related forums as well, maybe try spectrum forums |

Try these demos:
Critical Error http://pouet.net/prod.php?which=56765 Paralactica http://pouet.net/prod.php?which=57610 (you'll need a patch for divIDE to run it) Kkolor http://pouet.net/prod.php?which=18689 I don't know if they are 3 best ZX demos but they are worth watching. |

AFAIK "Stellar Contour" needs a TR-DOS machine (Pentagon), so it can't be run on Spectrum 128.

erm... &e7 (Andy Severn) did some cool stuff on the Spectrum (not talking games), but I don't think he did any demo's as such.

Just white screen after trying to start any of those, I´m afraid.
What is this patch for divide and how do I apply it? |

ATF1508_original_5.7C.jed is compatible with this?:

No firmware update needed.
edit: for other demos than that parallactica. That one doesn´t run so it probably would need some update... but don´t know how. I just had to type in command to load demo it was LOAD "" I got mescaline synestesia working right now. Last edited by Mendel; 12 August 2012 at 23:28. |

Checkout "SHOCK MEGADEMO" by ESI
It's an oldie but a goodie, and was quite impressive at the time (even tho the English text is a little flakey) |

That's a cool demo and the music is excellent. Thanks for the link, Hewitson
