Parallel to FDD?
Hello,
Some years ago someone gave me this little board and told me it was an interface to connect a Floppy drive to an Amiga: I didn't first notice, but it has a SUBD 25 connector and no electronics, only wiring... The only port it can be attached to is the parallel port. Is there any kind of driver allowing a floppy drive to be driven from the parallel port? |

Interesting! There's nowhere on the Parallel port you can take enough power to run a floppy drive, so I'd be amazed if it actually worked!
There were some older Dell laptops (CPx among probably loads of others) which had a paralllel port that doubled as an external floppy port - maybe it comes from one of those? |

Well, i will be not surprised that this is small workaround for low DB23 popularity, for some PC enclosure with Amiga board inside, from one side IDC, from another DB25 and FDD connected as usually but instead DB23, DB25.
I would check 2 spare pins - probably not connected or grounded. |

that connector will actually fit on the floppy port, but you'll have to be careful to align it left/right correctly..

Is it perhaps something like this
http://m1web.de/ADTWin/ Only on PCB, not just the cable? It doesn't have any components beside connectors and one jumper. |

Here are other pictures:
@robinsonb5 Yes, your're right there is no +5V nor +12V on the parallel port. I need to check the wiring to see if it corresponds to an Amiga Floppy DB23 connector. The fact that it lacks logic chips makes me think it cannot work with an Amiga. So perhaps the guy just said it was for the Amiga but it in fact comes from another system. |

I think robinsonb5's idea is the most credible at the moment

Yep, this may well be from inside a PC floppy adapter's external enclosure. There were some like this in the 80s to expand pizza box cased PCs.

OK, so I will definitely consider this is not for Amiga.

I have a year 2000 Taiwan generic laptop than can connect its floppy via a D 25 connector. I only use the laptop for serial debug data coming from my X1000.
