I've never really been into that type of game either but somehow managed to get myself hooked with Wing Commander ... I've completed all of them across several platforms (Amiga, Snes, Saturn, PS1, 3DO and PC ).

Even watched the movie

@PowerPie

Actually I try Wing Commander I (DOSBox). I like the SNES version. On an A500 imho it´s a nightmare.

Yeah it's a bit too slow when running it on a stock A500

Captive. I'm up to mission 7 ATM. It's tough, but addictive.

Finished Manhunt 2, which I thought was okay, but which I also thought lacked cohesion between levels, and didn't quite have the veneer of the original.

Some of the executions were brutal, I must say.

Now I'm giving Prey a go.

I really liked Crysis, and I found it to be a very memorable shooter.

The combat on its own was fantastic, but combined with all the different modes of your battle suit, the gunplay became even more outrageously fun!

Just finished "Condemned" on the Xbox 360 - I thought it was a pretty decent game... Good story, interesting if limited choice of weapons (longed for more ammo for the small amount of firearms though - but it wasn't that type of game I guess...) good enemy aggression - spooky environments - and it only cost me £2!

I know it's getting on a bit and it even has a sequel but I would definitely recommend it if you haven't played it.

On the Amiga - Ice Runner - I'm addicted!

My partner also bought me the second game when it got released ages ago and i've not even opened it yet (she could have saved money if she bought it now...shhh! )... i've also had Gears of War 2 for ages and not opened it yet because i've not finished the first one

Evil Dead Regeneration - on the Xbox

It is a bit of a bargain basement game now with a pretty corny plot and the game play does follow a repetitive pattern but it is a lot of fun and is genuinely funny in parts... the dialogue between Ash and Sam is occasionally hilarious and because the game isn't really that long they just about manage to not get on your nerves too much.

Playing the parts of both Ash and Sam makes the game fly along and the locations and graphics look pretty good in certain areas of the game.

It would be great to see a new Evil Dead game made for the Xbox 360 where the game play concentrated more on the Horror rather than the comedy aspects of the Evil Dead series.

I loved the films and that made me a bit more forgiving of the games obvious faults but it only cost me 99p so I cant complain that much... Groovy!

I just finished Prey.

Holy shit, what a fantastic game! A truly underrated work of art, I must say. Beautiful graphics, a twist or two at the tail, and designers that weren't afraid to try something new with concepts like portals, spirit walking and antigravity!

I mean, sure, the game has its deficiencies - the first half is abit slow, the game needs more weapons, and I agree that the portal stuff, antigrav and puzzles could have been more fiendish, more fully fleshed out and realised. But this shouldn't take away from the fact that what is there is a breath of fresh air, and is heaps of fun in itself.

The action was arcadey and twitchey, which is just how I like it. It seems I have a love affair with games that use the Doom 3 engine, because I loved Quake 4 as well. Have to get Quake Wars and Wolfenstein 2009 now.

The weapon models in Prey were some of the best and most creative I've ever seen, and I even liked how the main character goes from being an annoying whiney bitch to a real man.

Pleasantly surprised by Prey's fun factor, atmosphere and at times, its poignancy. A game that is far from perfect but which is also unrepentantly different and stunningly unique. I can't praise Prey enough.

I think I'll play either Dragon Age: Origins or Clive Barker's Undying next.
