The Captain's ADF has been doing fine so far. When gas runs dry another tank is used if driver started with it. No messages about a stolen car. The code list just rolls the alphabet like an odometer until it lands on a combination that will start. I've made it as far as the Adriatic on map. Maybe a better driver can complete the course.

All you guys are welcome. The Captain's diligent backup efforts have paid off again. I've finished the course three times. The worst mistake was moving the skill and mechanical sliders all the way to left in the belief low skill was for an easy game. It's just the opposite. A little of each leg of the race is uploaded to HOL now.

Wow! That's the most screenshots I've seen for a game on HOL
It might be a good idea to upload the code sheet, or is that not allowed? |

If it's not a scan of authentic document or original Amiga graphics, better not. |

I should really let clenched answer this question (and I'm sure he will when back online)...
From what I've seen in relation to most of clenched posts; he's a very talented Amiga guru with a wealth of coding knowledge so most probably took these straight from the .ADFs somehow using his skills |

Well there are lots of files on the disk that are powerpacked data files so easy enough to rip and unpack, after that I was lost

Yeah, given what I've read in the thread in relation to the fixes StingRay mentioned / had to get through; I'm sure finding these codes on the disk was no easy task and would take someone very skilled indeed

once again my lack of knowledge regarding things amiga let me down lol.
so how does this protection actually work guys? i'm assuming since the checksum check routines present withing the game code don't prevent completion of the game i gather that everytime a checksum check happens the game just throws another manual protection at you? i assumed that the manual protection and checksum check routines would be two different protection types contained within one game. |

I know that the uncompletely cracked disk version makes you always break the car halfway the competition, each year.

maybe completing the course is not completing the whole game? i have yet to play this game because i wanted to make sure it was fully functional before trying it so i don't know how many courses there are and so on. has Clenched completed the whole game or will the car break further in the game like Marcuz says meaning we still need an 100% cracked adf? |

You should be able to finish this; it's a copy of dlfrsilver's original.
The code entry screen appears after selecting the language, then the driver and then the car: Not sure if there are any other prompts for codes later in the game but even if there is you have the "Aptitude Test Card" thanks to clenched |

dlfrsilver's original is not deprotected though. Marcuz states that when using an unprotected version the car breaks half way through the competition each year which sounds like nasty protection, like when a game stops you from being able to shoot or collect needed items at certain levels.
because i don't know the game, i don't know if when clenched states he finished the course if that means the whole thing or just one course of many. the car breaking half way through the competition could be further into the game than clenched played. |

Marcuz is talking about all the bad cracks; they removed part of the protection (so no code input screen) but missed other checksums... I'm trying to think how best to explain this to you in words; since the original code input screen was skipped (i.e. no code was ever entered) the checksums later identify this and then implement horrible traps like the "car breaking" etc. If you enter in the required code (possibly codes later in the game although I would doubt it) with the original .ADF these bugs won't appear... Anyway, up to you whether or not you decided to use dlfrsilver's .ADF made from an original + codes until a proper crack comes along. I for one am Last edited by DamienD; 08 April 2016 at 20:47. |
