I got the following information from Michael Boehmer (who developed the hardware): Code:
here's some ASCII art first (pin header on right side of PRISMA, CON300): EXTIL oo GND EXTIR oo GND LIL oo GND LIR oo GND LOL oo GND LOR oo GND EARL oo EARGND EARR oo EARGND EXTIL/R will only work if the jumper block (3x2) next to the pinheader is set correctly. The SPDIF module sets this pins correctly (it fits on the 3x2 jumper block). In SPDIF operation EXTIL changed to SPDIF_IN, EXTIR to SPDIF_OUT, and the CD sound input connector CON304 will be active. LIL/R are line in (usually Paula). LOL/R are line out EARL/R are ear phone, BUT TAKE CARE: EARGND MUST NEVER BE CONNECTED TO GND! EARGND is a floating virtual GND, and must stay floating (only connect to earphones). The VS1063 protects this GND, but I would not rely on that. 3x2 pinheader (CON301): ooo ooo Jumper (++ or ##) set like that ++o ##o mean: use CD pin header on top of card o++ o## mean: use EXTIL/R |

it surprises me that this hadn't been tested prior to shipping.

They didn't release it a couple of years ago as they could have done, just because IMHO they wanted to release a 100% working board. They are actually offering more than you can get from a MAS player, so I believe it's just good enough to be for sale in that sense, and also very cheap for what it offers.
You can ask why they didn't try this thing or another as they have those connectors in the board, but in fact they keep trying every single option the card can offer, and they are a lot... a lot that need some software to run. People involved are doing a great and hard job. Just today I've tried a beta that adds more options for more hardwares. But this is all beta, and serious people like to test a lot, and in a lot of hardwares configs before releasing anything. |

Well, at least they shouldn't advertise it as having CDDA functionality, as it clearly hasn't yet. In US, people were sued for more ridiculous things...

On Amigaworld and the AEON facebook https://www.facebook.com/AEonTechnol...766013/?type=3 it still has the origial info: CDDA header. I think it isn't that stupid that, when this is listed, people expect this to work. I mean, imagine a PC listed with USB ports and then the supplier saying, hey, wait some time, we still need to write drivers...

Indeed they should tell about the future SPDIF everywhere.

Ok well I can wait for CDDA, wish I'd known sooner rather than spending about 5 hours trying to get this working haha.
Second problem i have, I am only getting right channel Paula audio through the Prisma. I am using a Y-Cable, stereo phono to minijack, but only getting right audio connected to the "line in" on the back of the prisma. I have tried 4 different cables and all the same, but it will play MP3 in stereo. Any idea on this? |

@danwood_UK: Idon'have this problem with only right channel Paula, but sometimes after playing mods it give some hisses. There are two outputs for line-out.
This card works well, but I like to have more information about the card about outputs and software. It is bit sparse after two years of tweaking software and testing. |

Hi guys.My first post on this forum
Prisma come to me last day. On the floppy there is mhiprisma.library, prisma.library, player and readmes. I am listening amigaamp on prisma. ok. but i think we need prisma.audio file for ahi. maybe prisma.device file??? ı tried to inject mhiprisma.library to moovid and action because videos with mp3 sound it can decode sound on the video. the cpu only will try for video decoding.right? of course i couldnt inject to moovid or action |

@starship
Welcome! The Prisma is a decoding card, not a general-purpose sound card so there is no AHI driver. The intention is that compressed audio (e.g. MP3 files) are played by the Prisma while normal sounds are played by Paula and mixed with the Prisma output. There may be the possibility of adding AHI functionality in the future, but this depends on the design of the card and the software being written. There are two APIs commonly used for playing MP3s: MHI and mpeg.device. The mpeg.device method is the old way, used on the CD32 FMV module and MHI is a newer method. Ideally the Prisma would come with both, as then it would be supported by software using the older mpeg.device method, but it looks like it only currently supports MHI. |

An interesting review and it is great to see game support for Prisma. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
You purchased the Zorro Big Box edition of Prisma - a separate A1200 desktop version will be coming soon which is fully insulated for use within an A1200 case and includes a clockport cable. This was announced when we made the big box version available for sale. |
