Map Editor on Amiga

Does anyone know if any Map editors were ever released on Amiga? I used to have the Binary Emotions one but thats long lost.

I don't mind coding one if I have to, but if there is already a suitable one out there, then that would be cool. And I don't care what its written in either be it ASM or AMOS.

So long as it can load IFF files, and save out mapbinary files thats all I need.

Cool

Doesn't AMOS Pro come with a map editor?
I remember reading something about a map editor in a book I've got called 'Amiga Games Programming' (or something like that) it was based on AMOS or AMOS Pro. I think the map editor program it mentioned was called TOME. It stood for T? O? Map Editor. I've never seen it or used it so I'm not sure if this will write out in a binary format. Maybe worth a look though.

No problem! By the looks of it, it's about the only free one that exists! Unless the AMOS one is also free

PowerCrawler is a lot better than that horrid AMOS effort! Too much bloat in the AMOS one and it's a pig to use! Go for PowerCrawler, much more intuitive...

That Binary Emotions one isn't the final version. The final one had more features and was used for Speris Legacy and Minskies Furrballs

Admitedly I did not read the docs, but I tried MapStation and hit Load IFF, picked the IFF file, loaded the map, then couldn't figure out what to do next! That stupid animation to bring the functions up is a complete waste of time aswell.

PowerCrawler you right click to access the tiles, drag a block around the tiles you want, and just plonk them down. Nice intuition interface and menus, system friendly and very configurable.

Regarding MapStation, what's the advantage of storing the tiles in memory vertically? Seems more logical to me to store the tiles horizontally! Am I missing something?

for information:

i will perhaps add a light map editor on new EOB1 & EOB2 automap screen (via a cheat mode to see all maps, move party on map and edit current 4 walls)

perhaps after i will adapt it for external usage

MapEd perhaps? That one bangs hw a bit though (copperlists IIRC).
Would prefer an OS based one though.

Sad to say that PicCon was never saved AFAIK. (Converters are the other nice thing to have.)
