Silkworm with CD audio tracks

I didn't use the original arcade music because everyone says it sucks, and yes it's true it sucks. I wasn't able to download it as vgz or mp3 either.

So I used Raiden & Raiden II tunes. They sound great on this awesome game. But they can of course be changed.

Available on my dropbox

https://www.dropbox.com/s/vyd07m6pli..._CD32.zip?dl=0

Note that the jeep uses blue button to jump, not up.

I have briefly tested it on my first machine and it works. Sometimes it seems to "forget" to switch to boss music (random issue, also seen in emulation. Damn bug...) otherwise it runs great (but my CD motor has issues...)

I mean, I love the arcade Raiden series but in the Amiga version of Silkworm???

I really don't see the point of throwing together Amiga games with CD music from random games / discs; but maybe that's just me

Note: I do understand that you're clearly very excited about the new "feature" that both you and Toni have worked on though, but...

This general idea of getting CD audio with games (especially those that made you choose music or SFX) is seriously cool.

Yet more motivation to get my CD32 out of the closet and working...

Nice one jotd!

@DamienD I understand what you're saying, and if you can come up with a better music, you can change it. In fact, everyone can change it to another music. As long as you respect the boss & classic track numbering. The hard work is playing music while game is playing, not playing Raiden music when game is playing.

I know that may look weird, but there's NO music at all... I wouldn't change a game music if it existed. I'm not going to do a lot of games this way, as in other projects I have, the music is the one from the game (or arcade version, or another FM towns, whatever, version)

I agree with DamienD, why put music from a total different game, into silkworm....
I should say yes, if a game has no or different music than the arcade or console version, but messing up allkinda different games with whatever music make no sense to me..sorry..

For silkworm with no music at all, let a cool composer make some good new tracks for it, and use that instead of ripped music from another game, some of the composer here wil maybe have some great idea making something for this game

I don't see the problem here. Did I violate some implicit "no messing with Silkworm" here?

First if you don't want to play the game with audio tracks, noone forces you to.
Second, you can put ANY music you want to replace the Raiden tracks. See that as a stand-in for music tracks (as the in-game music programming is now done for this game). As long as you put track 2 & 3 as boss tracks and the rest as level tracks it will work.

If you want, I can publish a CD version with just me saying "boss track 1", "boss track 2", "level 1", ...

Contributions accepted. And you don't even need me to change the MP3s in an archive.

Good job JOTD!

Also dont see the problem, people tend to moan for the point of moaning about something, as JOTD had previously said you can put any cd audio tracks in there, he just happened to use Raiden to test and upload, as soon as someone comes out with a guitar rift of Silkworm on Youtube you can swap it out and you dont have to wait because the work has been done.

To much pointless moaning about stupid things instead of encouraging people for their work....

What's the problem with the music ???
just change it !!! changing some mp3s versus all the work that jotd did, a work that so many times i heard was impossible !!!
well done jotd can't wait for the next one,i suppose it will fly and walk !!
ps: silkworm is really amazing with music I will perhaps change some tracks but who cares.

I speak only for myself, but it's not the point @jotd.
I mean, if someone has nice tunes that can fit Silkworm, it's a good idea to post it here for other people having a chance to enjoy them. Especially because this game has no in-game music. It's that kind of idea that I like : giving a chance to someone.

Your work is in now way questioned.

No problem. Now someone should write 12 level tunes and one or two boss tunes... or find some tunes from an obscure game which fits.

I think it's great. It's a hack, why have Simpsons in Streets of Rage? Because we can.

No no no. Why pick a random game and slap its audio in silkworm?

If your going to implement any audio in a game then at least try and make the games match somehow first.
