I am not sure what is the problem, but:

You don't need powerpc.library at all. While in theory sonnet.library can coexist with WarpOS installed, sonnet.library is a (almost complete) reimplementation of powerpc.library. The original WarpOS is not needed! For the time being you can throw away the whole WarpOS installation, just to be sure it isn't causing any conflicts.

Btw. does getinfo_ppc (as distributed with sonnet.library) run for you? It's a "bare minimum" PowerPC app.

Memspace 0 and 1 of the sonnet overlap. The voodoo4 is a pci memory hog. I gave Jack 2 pci libraries. One especially for the v4/5. Or you can switch the gfx card and the sonnet regarding slots so the sonnet gets allocated before the voodoo.

GetInfo_PPC crashes either with #80000004 or #8000000B error. I can put in a Voodoo 3 and re-test.

In my A4000Di mediator installation the Sonnet is the very top slot, Voodoo 4 is currently just below it, then a RTL8139 NIC, then an Elbox Spider USB card.

Which pci library did you get? Jack got a special one so he could close his A4000D. With the sonnet below the voodoo. As you can see in the pciinfo, the voodoo takes 256 mb from the available 512 mb Zorro memory.

However, with the sonnet above the gfx card you need the'non-Jack 3d' library. But it should work with a voodoo 3 anyway. That one only uses 64 mb of Zorro space.

I'm not sure which one he sent me, it was just called pci.library. He didn't specify. I will try a voodoo3 though also to test.

Darren,
Did you get 64MB or smaller DIMMs yet? I found with 128MB DIMMs that the memory would show up with Initsonnet but PPC apps would crash very quickly or instantly with 128MB DIMMs installed.

In my case the Sonnet 400/512 and also 400/1M accepted 128MB module but allocated just half (64MB). If I use two 128MB, the I have 2x 64MB.

Of course when I use native 64 MB, then I get entire 64 MB.

With either 128 or 64 modules both is stable.

Pretty sure this is the place I bought 3x64MB, was free shipping for me. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/64MB-FPM-MEMO...-/350479061155

If they try to soak you for shipping let me know, I'm sure we can work something out.

I use a Voodoo 4 also. I believe there was a bug introduced in Elbox's pci.library after 9.7 which causes gfx display corruption and sometimes complete system failure with a Voodoo 4 and Warp3D (no problems in 2D). Only 16MB of the 32 MB of gfx memory has ever been added to system memory as well. The latest Voodoo.card 4.35 does work with the old pci.library 9.7 fortunately.

I do have a V4 myself in my A4000. Like I said the V4 allocates a lot of PCI memory. Actually 256 MB of the available 512 within the current Z3/PCI memory window (if the mediator jumper is on 512MB window size). The V3 only does 2x32.

I'll be doing some programming this weekend to get a better V4 support when I put it in my A3000. And maybe also include some code to read out the SPD on the 128MB DIMMs (which mine have). Maybe that will add 128MB DIMM support.

The allocation of PCI memory is done in the pci.library and is tricky to patch. That's why I had 2 versions of the pci.library up until now. The pci library used to patch is 9.11 by the way.

Thanks to jack3d's help and Hedeon's help my Sonnet is alive! Still some warp3D kinks to be worked out but thanks so much guys!! Amazing!

PS - in case you can't see because the mouse pointer is over the PPC MHz speed, it's 500MHz!

@Darren so do did you get 64MB DIMMs or is it working with 128MB? Also take some high res pictures of your board without the heatsinks so we can figure out what resistors to move to overclock to 500MHz

I still have a 128MB Simm. Need to get that 64 still.

I'll take some pictures soon!

Regarding 128MB DIMMs.

Tried to use the I2C on the sonnet to read the SPD eeprom. I thought the small chip on the 64MB and 128MB DIMMs I have was an eeprom. But I can't get any data. The only device reacting at address $50 (memory is located from $50-$57 within I2C) is the sonnet itself (first three bytes are $80,$08,$00 for the people who understand I2C. Vendor info (0ffset $40 within slave address $50) is returned as SONTZ-7200-PCI). $51-$57 give no data at all.

So 4K Refresh still doesn't work.

I have just ordered a 64MB Simm...it will arrive in about 3 weeks.

Just a heads-up. It seems that with pci.library 11.0 you no longer need the patched pci.library.

According to the mail from Elbox:

It is useful in case of PCI cards, which do not report their PCI spaces typically (e.g. some PCI processor bridges)

Couldn't really test it as my Sonnet is in my A1200 right now. But it seems to work.

Wow, cool. Elbox is actually helping? I am still waiting for my 64MB Simm to arrive, should be another 1-2 weeks then I can test again.
