xbox drive upgrade

Just upgrading my xbox hard drive from the stock 10gb to a 160gb model.

The xboxhdm software said the drive was larger than 8gb so I had the option of creating an F drive. I said yes to this.

Is F what I should now use instead of E? So if I've had say coinops and a full rom set on E should I move them to F?

Before you commit to 160GB you can actually use a Sata HDD up to 2TB which will basically be large enough to do whatever you want. You will need a IDE to Sata adapter and they do work good, i'll dig out the info on the one i use.

You still use E:, F is just a user partition you can add games, films etc to.
Mine also has a G:

You should know that the Xbox only supports up to 127gb hard drives natively, you need an extra utility to see the rest of the drive.
I have a modchip in mine, the bios on this see's bigger drives automatically.

Edit i misread your post., yes move all the large stuff to F:, E: is used for dashboard like XBMC if i recall.

Ummm I was told it was ok up to 250gb.

The drive is in and all seems well. Surprisingly though, I've lost the unleash-x dash, it now always boots to the MS dash. The save games are there and the exploit audio file.

I am now going to try and redo the last part of the softmod, hopefully that works.

Well I couldn't redo the softmod so had to plug the original hard drive back in.

And now my screen is all green i.e. there is no red or blue colours.

I have fucking well had enough of this xbox. One problem after another.

It's 137gb the xbox's limit...read this thread to give you some tips.

If i was you i'd seriously do the TSOP flash mod and load a new bios on that baby, softmod is installable just by burning a dvd off then..no hotswaps or memory card exploits etc.

Ok. The hdd prepare with my boot cd containg EEPROM, c and e data seemed to work fine. I wonder if the drive being too big is what's breaking the softmod as like I said on the new drive it's just going into the MS dash.

I might try the bios trick as got old drive back in machine now.

Green screen problem solved it wad connection on hdboxpro

Right I have a theory as to why I lost my softmod. I bet when I backed up the c drive over FTP it was the shadow one not the real one.

I am trying shadowc_off.bin file but not sure if it's working. From looking at directory contents how do I tell which is the real drive? Not sure what to look for

Update: ok I got this working with the .bin file it needed moving to the right place. Now then, when I look at my C drive now I have a shadowc folder. This means I can back up again, burn disc again and re-prep my new HDD.
