need a quick answer

im brand new to this site, and also new to modding and transfer of ADF files etc

been watching a few vids on youtube where people are installing Compact Flash cards

i really only use the amiga for games

Q1.
i have got alot of ADF games on my pc, is it possible to just put them on the CF then run the games from the amiga?

or do i need to always use the ADF files with WHDLOAD?

Q2.
is it possible to get amiga 500 floppy games to work smoothly on a standard 1200?
if so, what will i need?

cheers
Tucker

adf files dont natively work on the amiga as its a disk image,i normally put them back to floppy and then use them.

adf files dont work with whdload for the above reason.

you would need a downgrader to run 500 games on the 1200 from disk.

your best bet would be to get the whdload pre installed packs and use them.

i dont think theres going to be a quick answer as you will more than likely have more questions and run into more problems.

The .adf files are floppy disk images, similar to .iso images of CDs or DVDs. They are not executable files so no, you can't run them directly from the hard drive.

You can however generate floppies out of the files using the Amiga, and then run the games from the floppies.

WHDload is another option, and usually better as long as your system has some extra RAM.

Generally speaking all A500 games can work on the A1200. However to smooth out some incompatibilities you need to use a "degrader" such as Relokick (if running from floppies), or again WHDload.

If the game uses standard disk format the ADF can simply be renamed to disk.1 and it will work with WHDLoad.

That's not quite correct as there are quite a lot of A500 games that work fine on the A1200 without any kind of degrading.
