ADoom V1.3 Install *Help*

Hello,

I am trying to Install Adoom V1.3 and the .txt file of ADoom that I have http://aminet.net/package/game/shoot/ADoom-1.3

and it says that I need a Linux port of Doom Source

http://www.fileaholic.com/cgi-sql/file-info.sql/11742

but it also speaks about the main WAD file that should content:

DOOM2.WAD
DOOMU.WAD
DOOM.WAD
DOOM1.WAD
PLUTONIA.WAD
TNT.WAD
DOOM2F.WAD

the problem is I don't see any WAD file in there!

Where can I found these WAD files?

many Thanks!

You can get the shareware version of Doom here : http://www.doomworld.com/pageofdoom/shareware.html (includes the WAD file)
The full versions are still sold, so no link to them here

adoom is the amiga port of doom. I simply downloaded it, unarchived it and put the shareware doom.wad in the Adoom folder.

The other WADS that you list are optional.

@ DDNI : is the Aminet file complete for the installation? It says to look for Linux verion Sources with WAD files but this archive do not contain any WAD!

yes the aminet archive is the complete Amiga port. you dont need the Linux source or anything like that.

take the wad from the link that TCD gave you and put it in the ADoom folder

danny, all you would need to is to do was to put the new .wad file into the Adoom directory but make sure to move the old one as the program opnly looks for one .wad file!..& i would also recommend to get the upgraded music patch from aminet..then type "addom -music' from shell and listen to the great sound and music..enjoy

Doom3 will not work, it is a complete rewritten game, much more "heavy" than the original ones.

Also try installing DoomAttack into a separate directory. It is a completely different port to ADoom. It is considered slightly faster and comes with a great GUI.

I'm sure it would run fine on my A1200 at maybe 0.0001 FPS

Indeed. Doom 3 is a full 3D game, which requires a fast peecee with a modern graphics card, while Doom 1 and 2 use an engine which creates an illusion of 3D. Quite a good illusion, mind you, but it's still not the same thing.

As for the demo version of Doom 1, this is the full first epsiode out of three in the game. It's actually about 1/3rd of the game. I'd just try to play through it first, before buying the full version, as it will keep you playing for quite a while, especially when you try to find all the secrets.

Now I have installed Doom and Doom II.
Doom runs fine while Doom II is a bit slow with my Blizzard '030.
How can check how many FPS do I have?
