Question Price check on MC68060RC50 71E41J

Hello.

I have this idea of building my own 1260 with the best cpu on it, from what i have gathered this cpu is the best and what i should get.

I have an offer to get a brand new one (never used) for 90€

I was just thinking if that is a good price considering that i will also need a board to plug it into?

If i could get a suitable board for around 100€ then it's in my pricerange.

Any comment's?

PS. i could also buy a larger batch for a better price.

I paid $70 for a MC68060RC60 71E41J about three months ago, just as a comparison. It was used though, not new.

You'll probably have to pay at least twice your budget for the board, if not three times.

Steve.

Little bit expensive these days. Supply is outstripping demand. €45 tops!

Yeah but the users and vendors have wisened up to this "upgrading" and they are not selling 1240 boards much below the price of 50MHz 1260 boards.

Here's a guy who regularly sells them for about €35-€45. I've bought from him before and can vouch for him.

You'll have to bid on the open market. He rarely sells them buy now. But as I said. Supply has outstripped demand.

practice for a couple of hours a week on old / dead PC boards, have a look on youtube theres lots to learn and techniques to pickup there (search for soldering hints etc)

before taking heat to a potentiall expensive kit. try out techniques with different fluxes and different solders. remember the more time you put into this activity I promise the better you will become (and the more money you will spend on it LOL)

remember a good haxxor will have skillz, a better haxxor will ask questions

Zetr0, have you ever considered making a "10 commandments" the Amiga way?

You have so much wisdom that you should really get them written in stone.

Who knows...you might get followers, and that might turn out to be a religion by it's own later on.

Have a nice day
