Personal Paint 7.1 memory management

Hi all,

I have Personal Pain 7.1 running on my A1200, which has a TF1230 card fitted, giving me 64Mb of 'Other' RAM. I'm also running OS 3.2.

But despite PPaint 'seeing' the extra RAM under 'Memory Information', the application still runs out of memory when loading large image files.
So as I'm typing this, it is showing me:

CHIP: 1122680 (Used) 958056 (Free) 938192 (Largest)
FAST: 4228712 (Used) 62880120 (Free) 62843616 (Largest)
Tot.: 5351392 (Used) 63838176 (Free) 62843616 (Largest)

I'm guessing despite PPaint reporting on the extra RAM, it's not accessing it.

I say this because when I try to open a 5Mb or 10Mb .iff file, I get a "There is not enough memory' warning.

Despite trawling through the documentation which seems to lean more towards how to deal with lack of memory, there's nothing I can see saying how to utilise extra RAM on an expansion card.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get PPaint to leverage this extra RAM I have?

Thanks in advance.
Keith.

In Startup_1.set file (PPaint_Prefs/) find the line starting with BLITLIBS and change it to:

Code:
BLITLIBS = "personal_agnus_blit.library", "personal_68030_blit.library", 0
This will make PPaint use the CPU for Blitting operations and save CHIP Ram.

Thank you. I have made that change but still can't load any image over 3Mb without getting a 'Not enough memory' message.

I'm confused...
