Women saving men in games!?
Hi,
I was trying to think of games in which guy characters are the victims, rather than the stereotypical girl having to be rescued!? |

Plundered Hearts: http://hol.abime.net/1090
Plundered Hearts is a text adventure game set in the late 1600's. The player takes control of a young Englishwoman who finds out that her father is sick. In order to take care of him, she travels to the West Indies. But on the way her ship is attacked by pirates, and she is carried away by their captain. Though still determined to find and help her father, the young woman discovers that perhaps she may find romance where she least expected it. Lady in Wading for Atari 2600: [ Show youtube player ] Hundra for Amstrad CPC, MSX, ZX Spectrum: [ Show youtube player ] Jorund, king of the Vikings, and father of our protagonist, has fallen for the deceits of Loki, Viking God of the lie. This deceit had as consequence the confinement of Jorund in the kingdom of Lukx, from where nobody has ever returned. Because of this deceit the Viking king has profaned the prohibited garden of the Norns. In there are found a great part of the treasure that the Gods keep jealous, as well as some of the nymphs more beautiful than ever a human eye has contemplated. Before such attractiveness, Jorund fell for the deceit of Loki and profaned the garden. The wrath of the Gods fell on him and their punishment did not take long: they would border to him to perpetuity to the kingdom of Lukx, where their inhabitants would give good account of the bones of our protagonist. But Hundra was not resigned to that her father died in that exile, and therefore, could not reach Valhalla, paradise of the viking warriors. Decided to change the fate of her father, she went to the Viking Mount Olympus where she convinced the Gods that her father had been deceived. They admitted their mistake, and saw that the punishment had been excessive; but their decisions were irrevocable and there was no way to save Jorund from his terrible end. Hundra offered to go to the kingdom of Lukx, and gather three sacred gems, stolen a long time ago from the Gods, to rescue her father. Last edited by s2325; 30 September 2012 at 23:12. |

Jill Saves the Prince. As a bonus, a pretty good game with a kickass soundtrack (and that goes for the first two games in the series as well.)

The Great Giana Sisters!
Rodland! Alien 3! Vixen Lorna Elvira (there were at least two different elvira games on Amiga) Lollipop Crazy Sue 1 and 2 I would also say any game where you can play as the female: Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter 2, Elf Mania, Gauntlet, Golden Axe, Hired Guns, Zool 2. |

Yes I read the title but I interpreted it as 'Women Kicking Mens Butts!'. The way I figure it, in the Alien 3 game Ripley goes around rescuing MEN. Any game where women fight or kill men could also been seen as 'saving' them from their misery. In some of these games the goal is to defeat an evil (male) baddie and therefore saving the world. In Lollipop for example, the aim is to save the world be defeating a huge evil (male) baby called Sugarbaby, and kick it's arse.
ok, so in Rodland they are saving their Mother from a bird, and Elvira has to save the world from Queen Emelda the Evil, so that's fair enough. It just saves my writing Tomb Raider a load of times. |

Yes, I suppose that as long as you interpret words to mean things diametrically opposite to what they actually mean, you could theoretically interpret the title and OP that way

In the 8-bit computer adaptation of "Rocky Horror Picture Show" you must rescue and save your partner, kidnaped by ugly evil Dr Frank'n'Furter. You can chose playing as either Brad or Janet. The last case, of course, is a valid example for this thread!

"castle master" allows you to choose to be a prince or princess, whichever you choose the other gets abducted and you then have to rescue them.

A nice thread found!
I've completed tons of platformers without cheats so far, but only I remember is 1 "level". That is "Super Return of the JEDI": the 3rd level that Leia(RIP!) saved Solo at the end. Seriously, does anyone know "Woman rescues Man at the ending scene" platformer ?! Main player charactor: female Purpose of the game: Saving a specific male at the ending(showed before credit scrolls) What kind of man: 20s~30s man (possibily... like Duke Nukem guy) Genre: Platform game Btw I remembered Ultima V, If you choose a female charactor, that female saves a male (L.British) at the end. Maria vs. Some Bastards (ZX Spectrum) According readme file, Maria saves Willy who had been kidnapped. It also looks nice graphics even though the game was designed for 48K. Yes, there is some small, fat king or prince at the end and you can select Tyris=Flare. There is even some simple platforming.

I was going to put "Gauntlet" and then I thought, bit iffy. You do hear "Valkyrie is about to die" rather a lot.
But, things can go the other way, Valkyrie can sometimes come to the rescue, so after reflection I guess it does count. |

In the early 90s i imagined a follow up of Ghosts'n'Goblins called Girls'n'Ghosts where is the princess to have to save the butt of Arthur but nobody took the initiative to do it
(and the fact that they need to go at the same darn incompetent blacksmith did not help - referred to the dorkly animation so that she end up fighting in lingerie) |
