Interesting he mentions the Amiga, and he mentions Spot, but he doesn't mention that he wrote Spot for the Amiga.

I knew Graeme a bit back in the day. I think this was just before 7th Guest hit.
He used to come into the bookstore I was working at and we'd chat computers a bit.
I mentioned I was an Amiga guy and he mentioned he wrote Spot, which I thought was the kualest thing I'd heard in my life at the time. ;-)

I remember talking about possibly wanting to write games, but was having some issues "getting" assembly language, and he said that assembly isn't that hard.

Well, for him maybe... ;-)

That was the closest I got to actually "knowing" anyone in the gaming biz..

Great to see him again...
It's one of those cases, I'm sure he'd never remember me. But his brief chats were important to me.
(Not so important that I figured out assembly and went on to write games, but still) ;-)

One thing I noticed about Spot and Infection was that they are obviously the inspiration behind the famous slime puzzle in The 7th Guest.

Assembly language looks pretty scary to me. I guess it's probably clear as crystal for people who really get into it, though. Seems like there's a great danger though when a new machine comes out and makes the old stuff obsolete.

Really great episode! Too bad Trilobyte didn't make it, I really loved the games. Real fun to see and hear how the 7th Guest came to be.

I read this guy's stuff (like devoured it). Even remember some of the pictured illustrations. He had me reading up on Lovecraft. I still can't go by old stuff without thinking how it would fit into a Call of Cthulhu campaign. Maybe he would be pleased to know they did a splendid job localizing his game for Germany, though I understand it's even more popular in France.

Btw there is already a nice Cthulhu strategy (The Wasted Land) game for mobiles.

I will soon be the PROUD owner of an A600 and C-64!

I need to ask for some help though with both. The main thing I'm wondering about on the A600 is the whdload stuff. I've seen that a bunch of times, but I must admit, I just don't get it. What's the easiest way to get a bunch of games loaded onto this system so I don't need to use actual disks?

I know everything about Amiga emulation, but I haven't actually used since the 90s. I was hoping someone here could point me towards a basic guide to get this setup with a minimum of fuss. To really get full use out of it, I also need some way to get the video output to SVIDEO or (better) component. That way I can record it externally.

My goal is be able to run games on my Amiga and record the video, thus getting 100% accurate recordings instead of going through an emulator.

Congratulations to Fread Ford and Paul Reiche. I knew their Skylanders was one heck of a cool idea when I saw it on MattChat. Now they approach a hundred million € in sales. Only Super Mario earns more.

yeah the lord British ones are absolutely amazing - the best ones so far without competition. Too bad the guy has a bit of a bad Skype connection, too often I just couldn't understand properly what he was saying due to some audio glitch

In the same vein I would like to see an interview with Jordan Mechner whom I also have a lot of respect for due to his journals and open sourcing. These people give a true window into the sometimes less-than-wonderful world of game development.
