yeah its a chore. Better to just play it with a trainer and try to get by with as little deaths as possible. Half the fun in the game is to try and figure out where the devs MIGHT have put the nasty traps.

I'm curios why vertical spikes-traps weren't transparent (you can see black background).

You mean you want it to be harder? Please God no

They weren't transparent because the designers had a shred, a single shred of mercy. And talking of shreds: that is what will remain of poor Rick D when s2325 has his way by the sound of things!

Wait, them not being transparent doesn't make it easier. They're not visible at all until triggered. It's only after they're triggered you can see them and the black, non transparent area in between the spikes.

EDIT - oh, you mean the spikes you actually can see? I thought he asked about the invisible traps where spikes come out of the floor... those aren't transparent, ugly grey/black in between the spikes.

that was my intent, looked hard for fitting music. Eventually found this, it's royalty free so no danger of my Youtube account getting in trouble

well i remember the words fighting we had with Stuart Campbell about Rick Dangerous some months ago. Rick Dangerous is a game where the player needs to understand how the traps are working, as such it involves mind-use, how good you are at playing and avoid the traps. If you're good, and know what you do, it's ok you pass, otherwise the way you play is wrong.

Rick Dangerous was loved because of the traps challenges, the fun/humor. It has all the attractive things : A balanced mix between instinctive gameplay and mind-play. I mean if you are going like there no tomorrow you die, you go fast with being on traps, it works

Don't you think guys ? Also, another question, what is the best joystick/pad to play this game ?

I agree it's a great game, but no matter how good you are... if you don't know where the traps are, you will die many times. There are many traps you have no chance of knowing are there.

But I don't mind, I still love it. Wish there were more games like it.

In fact what buzzes me is the word used, unfair.... something is unfair when whatever you
did to get the things right, you fail miserably. Here you die by not knowing traps at first,
you learn to deal with them, and hop !

It's a great game yes i fully agree.

yes it is a great little gem of a game, speaking of which does anyone know if the updated version with the level select was ever cracked ?? I seem to remember I had it, back in the day, but maybe my memory is fuzzy

Yeah but Stuart was right though. It's a pure memory test with almost no skill involved and I personally hate that but whatever floats your boat.

I dont understand people who say this game is nice, brilliant, great, its piece of shite and its not a game when you have to first memorize everything before it allows you to finish it ! Its not mastermind.

Its great video, no doubt about that.
