legacy style racing

What racing games, arcade & console, would you say were the great games prior to Gran Turismo Pole Position and Bump N' Jump are pretty legendary.

For old, old, Revs was seminal, Pitstop or Pitstop II on the C64 were superb and far superior to Pole Position.

Before GT?

- Lotus (Amiga)
- Lotus 2 (Amiga)
- Chase HQ (arcade or Spectrum)
- F1 Race (GB)
- Super Monaco Grand Prix (Mega Drive)
- Super Hang On (Mega Drive)
- Road Rash (Mega Drive)
- Hard Drivin' (Arcade)
- Stunt Car Racer (Amiga)
- F1GP (Amiga)

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Big grin

Just about the first arcade game I ever played was the projector game F1, sound was scary for a little kid!!

Indy 500, based on the arcade games Gran Trak 10 and Crash N' Score. Top down racing game with sharp car control, much respected.

Pitstop II for the C64 was an awesome game. I played it splitscreen with friends for hours.

World Circuit was also a great game to play over the modem back in the dial-up days.

Arcade only with Namco's Rally-X, I used to love using the smoke screen and oil slick, plus making chasing cars crash into each other.
