Games you must return to, to finish.

What games have you never finished that you think you'd like to? Amiga and other.

For me......

Amiga
Captive
Mercenary Second City
Armour Geddon
Shadow of the Beast I, II, III
F18 Interceptor

Other
X-Wing
Unreal

no doubt I'll add more as the nostalgia train picks up speed.

I started transferring my Amiga floppies to ADF in 2005 and have been playing all the games to completion. I think at the end of 2015 is when I took a break as I completed all the action games and had only the RPGs and adventure games left. It's been hard to pick back up, but I'm slowly starting to. I have about 70 titles left, which means I have years to go. Quite a number of them I have beaten before, so they don't count.

The ones I'm really looking towards finishing the first time are:
Dungeon Master
F/A-18 Interceptor
It Came from the Desert
Mean Streets
Perihelion

Zelda - The Windwaker. I stopped playing outside the entrance to the final temple, and didn't want to go in, knowing that I still had a fair chunk of the open world secrets to find. So I parked my boat there... and never went back to find the secrets. Some day I'll go and finish it.

Did you ever play Damocles? That was a great follow-up to Mercenary, in which you had solid-filled 3D buildings that you could explore and pick up items from different floors on, and an entire solar system to fly around, and all to stop a comet from destroying a planet.

I've played through all three Beast games, although I used Ten Pints on the 2nd one. I would've chucked the Amiga out of the window otherwise.

I had Mercenary on cassette for the Atari 800XL and loved it. I remember that it would advertise Damocles: Mercenary 2 during loading (many games advertised other games during the several minute loading time). I was so excited for it, but it never ended up getting a release on the 8-bits, and when I finally rediscovered it on the Amiga, didn't have the time to dedicate to it. Must try again some time...

More recently I got close to the end of both Zelda A Link Between Worlds and Metroid Samus Returns both on the 3DS.... two brilliant games that sucked me in for hours until I got stuck.

Well. It ain't gonna happen

For me it's going to be It Came From the Desert. As a kid I chickened out as soon as the ants started to appear, I never really picked it up again at a later age

Crack Down is a game I must finish some day. I think I got to the last level (probably with two players), but never managed to see it through. The Amiga version has real shitty scrolling though, I may try with the arcade version.

I wasn't aware of it back in the day, but when I returned to the Amiga late last year through Emulation, I spotted it while browsing adf downloads and had a quick tinker.

Reminds me of the freescape engine.

Think I'll play it after I've finished Second City....
and of course before I do that, I feel the need to revisit the original.

Now...chances of all the maps I draw on graph paper still being in my parents loft? lol

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (I stopped in the fire temple, and called it quits)
and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (I don't remember where I stopped, but I got very frustrated with it)

I wish I could figure out how to play Carrier Command properly... (Not really what the thread was asking, but, it always bugged me that I never really got into it properly)

Monkey Island 1. I've never finished it because my physical game disks broke, and I returned the game, but could never (until recently) get my hands on it again. So, I could never actually do it. I eventually got it on PC.CD years later, but I never really played it again. No idea why.
Actually, I've never finished any Lucasarts games! I think I just lack the patience for them, any more. (Now that I actually have them, and can play them)
And Broken Sword, on the PC.

And Turrican II: I came close several times, but never quite made it :P
Same with Flashback, Bart Vs. The Space Mutants, Lethal Weapon, and Magic Pockets.

Someday...

(I still play Magic Pockets a bit! I love it. Even if it has no in-game music)

Maybe this and this could help with Carrier Command.

Monkey Island 1 runs fine on ScummVM for PC and of course WhdLoad on the Amiga (thanks Jotd). A wonderful game.

JimPlaysGames is a youtube channel which has some nice Carrier Command videos. If memory serves he does switch to the PC Dos version rather quickly because it has a time speedup function which the Amiga version does not have.

I'd link to the youtube video but I don't want to be peppering embedded videos everywhere where it isn't asked for
