For those interested I'm doing a little live stream now of Rygar running on my real stock A1200.

Feel free to ask me anything.

Yes, apologies as I had to set it to private ...

Once I edit it then I'll make it public again.

All the sound levels were wrong and if I do it again it will need to have some better structure.

Geezer

Geezer
McGeezer, please, try to announce a little bit before the live stream. I would have liked to attend to your stream.

Anyway thank you for the update.

Thanks.

In this update I've implemented the password system (no I won't reveal what they are). Also now in the game is the 7 Elders of Argos... if you save them they will give you max power ups and a shit ton of points, but you need to find them as they are all hidden. I've also adjusted the disk armor frames and the attack is much more snappy now....just like the arcade.

PS. I'm sure I recognise that elderly dude from somewhere though??? lol.

PPS. I've also fixed a load of graphical glitches and weird bugs (thanks @alpine9000 for the play test!).

Hmmmm....yeah that elder does seem familiar, but I can't quite put my finger on it....
Excellent work as always mcgeezer!

2 questions:
- Is that tree's middle cut by design at 2:34?
- I was watching those waterfalls again (the small ones at the background) at the arcade and they seem to be using colour cycling as well. I think they're just alternating between 2 colours and the sense of motion is better. If that's indeed the case, would it be too much trouble to try that method of cycling instead? I know I've asked for this before, but since it's not some animation, but simple colour change I thought I'd ask again, don't mean to be pushy or anything.

Thanks...

First point is a bug...not sure why that tile is disappearing.

Second point...they don't use colour cycling, they are three animations of tiles. I'm no graphics guy...but the best I could do was with the copper cycling.... we'll have to live with it and I'm happy with it.

Oh ok, I thought by watching it that it was just colour cycling, simpler than the one you've already used hence my suggestion.

My idea

Sorry i don’t speak English.

My idea for a screen parallax background:

Need: 50hz 320x256 screen
6 sprites attached for 50% coverage screen
Black frame insertion (50% brightness down) only background parallax
is possible load a new image sprite each frames

i ask, my idea is achievable?

What is your target platform? OCS/ECS/AGA?

Yes - You could cover 50% of the screen area with hardware sprites in x4 (64 pixel mode), with 16 colours.

The maximum you can realistically cover is 192 pixels wide with hardware sprites.

On AGA you have SSCAN2 bit in FMODE register.
You can 'repeat' the sprites without copper trick and waste of DMA bandwidth

Possible, but with severe restrictions and compromises.
There is somewhere a thread on EAB.
If I find it I give you a link.

EDIT
Found: Free Form Sprite Layer example + source
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=94345

Mainly for OCS but there is a part about AGA.
