Dragon Spirit SE

With Dragon Spirit not only did they not bother palette correcting it for Amiga, they also put a Dragon image in the corner that took up part of the playfield. I did a quick fix for both issues.



I'm not planning to do anything further on this (the speed issues that plague the game are likely beyond my capabilities) I just wanted to do a quick fix for a CD32 compilation.

Download (WHDLOAD package) is in the zone.

@AmigaJay no worries mate!

@dlfrsilver I'm afraid so, but ones that are as awful as this are rare. At least with Wonderboy the original coders doubled the palette so it wasn't dark like that.

Sadly the Amiga version isn't nearly as good as the perfect PC-Engine Port. Better colors or not.

The dragon on the playfield was really, really stupid. What the hell was the programmer thinking.

Now I must add, it's really funny to reply to the same topic here and also on Facebook

EDIT: Will this also go to the oficial WHDLoad page ?

i hope so. It's so better to see this game enhanced from the shitty version they sold at the start.....

As others already said, one has to wonder what these guys were smoking when they did that. As if the game wasn't slow enough, they had to draw this useless dragon on top of it... Talk about wasted cycles.

Did your change speed up the display a bit?

It probably didn't make any difference, I just repainted the Dragon rather than resize it (so it has a whole lot of transparent pixels)

You know I never thought about the fact that it's likely to be burning cycles, assuming it's neither sprites or dual playfield (can't remember) Maybe I should try deleting it entirely one day.

Black Tiger? Forget it. It would need a complete reprogramming. Graphics are nice but scrolling and controls are beyond repair. An awful ST to Amiga conversion.
