Blizzard 1260 128MB upgrade?

Hi folks,

Am pondering whether to do an upgrade of my Blizzard 1260 (I am a speed freak) which currently also has 64MB ram.

Any views on whether a RAM upgrade to 128MB has any benefit at all? 64MB seems enough to run anything I've ever tried...

Regards

I doubt there are many circumstances where 64mb is not enough, but 128mb 50ns ram is pretty cheap, so why not?

I don't think I've ever ran out of RAM before the Amiga crashed, and I was surfing in ten tabs on my Amiga 4000 with 64 MB of RAM back in the day.

Emulation mostly could benefit (Mac, PC). ReOrg on <4GB partitions (not too important).

Do it and update while you are at it with a 50ns SIMM, that way if you want to overclock to 66MHz it will work stable.

Depends a lot on what you are doing, on my "main" A4000 I have 144M fastmem (128 on the 060-card and 16 on MB) and I have ran out of mem many times.

First of all I had loong uptimes, and programs leak memory, and AmigaOS do not have any garbagecollection, also, the memory fragmentation is huge if you use for example picture viewers a lot, and ofcourse, when you do all web surfing on the Amiga (which I used to do it can use up a lot of RAM too.

Other things is when working vith large images (adpro/tvpaint/whatever) or doing raytrace (I used Real3d)

Well why limit yourself to 128? Unless you are overclocking beyond 60Mhz or so you could add the SCSI module and hence another 128mb RAM on top!
