PCMCIA reset problem?

Hi there,

I'm getting some amiga hardware again after years without.
Currently waiting for a wlan card for my a1200, and stumbled across talks of a pcmcia reset problem.

As I understand it this problem necessitates reinserting pcmcia ethernet cards after rebooting the machine.
  1. Is that all?
  2. Does this problem also affect wlan and other pcmcia cards?
  3. I found two products on amigakit for it, here and here. What is the difference between these?

Thank you!

One has pins for the FastATA's Gayle cable and other does not.

You don't need a hw fix BTW, there is a software fix (if you even need that fix that is).

Send a message via ICQ to Predseda
there is a small tool called 'cardreset', that solves it.

Software hack is just fine and works like a charm. Just search Aminet for CardReset and CardPatch, insert those early in Startup-Sequence and be done with
Hardware hacks fix your problem once and for all without the need of any software hack, plus it doesn't require you removing the PCMCIA card prior boot (most of times a PCMCIA card inside the miggy will keep your Amiga from booting until you remove it).

Funny is the CardReset software will hang your Amiga at boot if no card is inserted in the PCMCIA port.

Not exactly hangs for throws you to CLI with an Error of 10
That's why you need to put either:
- FailAt 11 --> It will bypass the Error 10
- C:CardReset TICKS 50 >NIL: --> NIL will hide the error
