btw.. it would nice to have not just a 1:1 remake of the game. you could add some features like Level Codes, Checkpoints or something like this...

you can chose... if you want your own final level tune, i can compose a complete different one for the game.

Small bug. The game froze on me after a while. I was pressing punch + foward sequencially. Music still kept playing though. Running WinXp.

Also, when will there be a linux version?

Why not? Unable to do it or are you using specific resources that prevent it? If you're having trouble you can always share the code and let someone else do the port. As long as you license it properly, people won't steal it nor anything like it.

For a second I thought you would be using one of those Sonic game engines.

Game maker is fine, but no linux compatibility/open source is really a downer for me.

HTML 5 is just a very weak extension to HTML 4 providing a few additional markup elements and deprecating a few old ones; you are talking about Javascript and probably the use of the Canvas element which is the only HTML 5 addition I find somewhat interesting.
