best module ripper on Windows

Hi,

I want to rip modules from WinUAE dumps, and prowizard 1.62 (winuae built-in) does not work for the module I want to rip.

Any ideas about module rippers on PC (or on Amiga) which work the best?

Hi,

Could be helpful to know what you're trying to rip.

The already mentioned ExoticRipper is probably your best choice. Depends on what you want to rip though. Which module are you trying to rip?

I'm trying to rip the "game over" and "well done" in-game modules of Magic Pockets

If memory serves me right, Magic Pockets used VectorDean player (which explains why ProWizard didn't find anything since it's not a tracker clone format). ExoticRipper should be able to rip the modules. I'll have a look later.

Magic Pockets main title is standard protracker format. But you may be right. Richard Joseph may have used his format for the 2 little end tunes. Well I did not write my VectorDean player yet, even if I had understand most of the file format. In that case, I'm stuck.

I think the best ripper for windows is Jaeder Naub (latest download) Jaeder Naub Wiki

You can also find few tools on Keygen Music Homepage but they're mostly designed for PC stuff.

Anyway for Amiga music, the best ripper is definitively ExoticRipper. BTW i'm not sure but i think you can directly unpacked the file of Magic Pockets, it's far better than a WinUae memory dump.
You can load the dsk with Track2File and see if it know any file header and unpack/Save them on the fly.

thanks for the info. I've already used the diskimage and wrip + decrunch RNC bits, but I never met modules, maybe the main one but not sure.
You're right it's usually better to rip from files, and I do that, but mostly with PC versions of games (because the files are real and have a meaningful name).
I have ripped most of the stuff of Magic Pockets (level layout) but the music is still a mystery. I'll try Exotic Ripper, thanks
