The Untouchables - Issues...

Erik and I are doing tests on this one but we encountered a lot of troubles in the avaible cracked versions. Your help is needed guys.

- I tried at first the one i wrote back on disc years ago : "Untouchables, The (1989)(Ocean)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr PNA][t 1 Pseudo-Ops].adf". The levels 4 loads, but if you loose the game displays a "PLEASE INSERT DISC A AND RESET" instead of going back to the menu screen. The levels 5 and 6 simply don't load if you select then as startup in the cracktro. I didn't test anything about level 2 and 3 since there are already a lot of trouble with this disc.

- I couldn't try the "Untouchables, The (1989)(Ocean)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr PNA].adf" and "Untouchables, The (1989)(Ocean)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr PNA][t +1 Avenger].adf" discs (and also the alternates ones) sice i failed in typing the "SOUTHAMPTONGAZETTE" cheatcode ah ah (i have an Azerty keyboard but it failed too by trying to invert the appropriate keys to mimic a Qwerty one).

- I tried the "Untouchables, The (1989)(Ocean)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr DC - FLT][f AGA DCS].adf" too on my A1200 but i failed to type the cheat code too. More over the CAPSLOCK key doesn't work at all in this fixed version (it normally should pause the game, allowing other cheatcodes as you can read at HOL).

So simple question : does someone know a 100% ADF working version of "The Untouchables" ? On a real machine i mean, not in WinUAE. Erik and I need to know if there is one or not. Thanks in advance for your help !

I moved your post from the Untouchables screenshots (may not actually be data problem?) thread under the HOL data problems section to a new one here under support.Games.

This won't help much, especially as I haven't really played past the 1st level in over a decade and you've already mentioned there's an issue but I currently use the following .ADFs:

... Untouchables, The (1989)(Ocean)[cr PNA](Disk 2 of 2).adf

Just checked what Belgo uses in "GameBase Amiga" (which is always a very safe bet):

Hmmm, using WinUAE the <Caps Lock> pauses the game on .IPF and other cracks.

Like you though I can't get the cheat code working

Lemon Amiga shows a slightly different version to HOL...

The cheat is working on the IPF version.

Type SOUTHAMPTONGAZETTE on the title screen. It will give a brief flash at the bottom to confirm entry. Press 'F10' to load level 2.

You can then Hold 'Help' key to complete Level 2. Then use Help to skip stages in the next levels.

Lemon Amiga & HOL say "during play / while playing"... This will need to be updated on both sites.

That's why the cheat didn't work. No stress to type it on the title screen. I also have the fixed AGA version by Galahad but the CAPSLOCK key doesn't work at all on my A1200. I don't have an Azerty or Qwerty keyboard, it seems to be a finish one. However the CAPSLOCK key should work whatever the keyboard language is, and it doesn't.

I'm going to check if this fixed AGA version works until the end, Erik and I need a fully working one to... do interesting tests for ou guys lol (shhh).

Then use Help to skip stages in the next levels.

Mad-matt did you play it until the end already, and if yes does this version work ?

Hmmm, just tried the cheat with the .IPF.

On Level 4 holding <Help> (i.e. <Page Down> in WinUAE) doesn't skip the level so can't test past this; unless of course I actually spend some time to beat this level properly...

I see what you mean Vollldo with Stage 4; if you or the baby die then the bugged "Please insert Disk A and reset" screen appears:



What happens with the .IPF at this point is that you see the "Baby Dies In Railway Shooting" newspaper screen, then the 2nd title screen and if you press <fire> the game is back at the start of Stage 4...

You can load Stages 5 & 6 with this set though!!!

What the cracktro doesn't tell you is that you need to do the following:

If stage 5 or 6 is selected from the cracktro / trainer, let the game load until the 2nd title screen. Eject "Disk 1" from DF0: and insert "Disk 2" before pressing <fire> to start

With the trainer; it actually hardcodes the cheat code so pressing <F10> at the 2nd title screen will take you to Stage 2 without having to type anything... Afterwards, holding <Help> will skip stages.

The good news with this set is that if you or the baby die on Stage 4 it behaves exactly just like the .IPFs (see post above)

This is the set I'm now going to use

...but I do want to test the last "[cr DC - FLT][f AGA DCS]" set.

Well I give up... been trying to pass the 4th level for the past 30 minutes or so... it's friggin' impossible without unlimited energy for both you and the baby

Ok beat level 4 and level 5; level 6 loads correctly and played for a bit. If you die here you start back on level 6

EDIT : Ok i just checked this set. Indeed the "HELP" cheat keys doesn't work from level 4, so this stage must beaten. Hard one, so i didn't try since you succeeded. I will keep this ADF set too. Thanks to have notice that the cheatcode is hardcoded if the trainer is on, it helps.

Yes, it's 100%. I painstakingly completed it

Mind you I skipped level 1 / 2 / 3 using the cheat but each level loaded successfully and all looks good.

Even if you don't select "Never go back level" the trainer is on... I guess this is why it's "t +2":

1) Cheat code enabled (by default).
2) Never go back level (selectable).

Yes it should be 100%, if ever you manage to beatthe levels 4, 5 and 6 then tell me since Erik would need to know if this one works perfectly too.
