Nice find .
I think s2325 is right there. That's probably why on the cover the tail of the 'dinosaur' is wrapped around the Turrican armor, in order to reflect the tail of the alien.

I see the artist was "strongly inspired" by most of famous sf movies from the end of the last century (+ marvel comics)

Anything wrong with using the Amiga screenshots on the box for the CPC? Oh you mean that might give a false impression of the actual graphics? Hmm...

Even A1200 versions were PC boxes with "Amiga 1200" stickers on the front & side, but at least the screenshots were accurate!

Steve.
90% of the time though the screenshots were labeled correctly, i.e. "Taken from PC version", "Taken from Amiga version", etc.

On monkey island box there's a picture of the dog but actually in the game when you speak with him in the SCUMM bar you don't see that portrait at all! Not even in the PC version.

Better late than never

@KONEY
Yup, also always wondered why this picture isn't in the game. I think I've tested every version and never saw it, except on the box.

But then Brooks has to admit that LucasArts did succumb to making changes to their beloved baby.

"It's all about one guy, Spiffy the Dog," explains Brooks. "This is probably the closest we came to adding something to the game. Technically we really didn't add anything….

"In the original version of the game, when they first made it, this little puppy was supposed to get a close up. I'm not joking, when you talked to him, he would get a close up. The marketing team got a hold of it and said: 'Dogs sell, put it on the back of the box!' So they did.

"And then the production team said 'We need four more K (kilobytes) - Spiffy's out!' And marketing never pulled it off the back of the boys. So for years fans have been asking where's Spiffy? So we thought 'let's give him his due' and Spiffy has finally got his close-up. We're really pleased with the level of detail, and his dialogue is fantastic.

Hmm, 4k = no Spiffy... you would think if he was already made, that he would have occured in one of the later versions (e.g. the CD version with the MI2 interface).

This used be the norm in the 8-bit days. I often looked at the back of a spectrum game box to see lovely colourful graphics only to find out that that they were screenshots from the C64 version. The publishers covered themselves by stating that the 'Pictures shown may differ from the actual game.'

I remember paying up to £10 per game based on the screenshots on the back of the box alone. eeeeeeeeeek!

Bottom screen.. is the original.. the bottom pic has a screen from a players stats... the stats are different from the game...

The top pic of the read or the box.. has stuck over pics.. showing the updated screens and they`ve covered up the wrong stats screen hehe.

Also some of the mag adverts has the wrong pics in too!

It's not bogus...I think these are real pictures of the game running on the XL/XE. The difference may come from using a real TV that gives a better picture with blurring and scanlines.

Most of details are missing, I don't think TV can help here.

I also think that it is caused only by photographing of a TV screen.
