A1200 - Mediator 1200TX-IndivisionAGA-FastATA MKIII

Hi

Anyone know about a extensor (or similar) for the ROM socket on A1200 mobo?

The idea is:

ROM sockets of the mobo = Empty ROM sockets to connect at the mobo = cable from the two empty sockets to..= Empty ROM sockets to connect the Fast-ATA MKIII

With IndivisionAGA & Mediator 1200TX is no way to connect the Fast-ATA MKIII.

So, maybe with one "extensor" like this it´s possible to connect the Fast-ATA MKIII far from the Mediator.....

Any idea/help/solution will be ....

We done a custom build about 6 months ago, and had to raise the rom sockets. We used 2 pairs of sockets, this made it possible to fit everything in.

The only problem we had, was we had to then use 44pin cable as the 40pin connectors were hitting the mediator.

We sell the rom sockets if you need them.

Mediator 1200TX-IndivisionAGA-FastATA MKIII

Hi,

Well, I have also two pairs of ROM sockets to raise the FastATA. But I need to use the 40 pins connectors because I have two DVD-RW on my system.

I need any solution to put the FastATA in one side of the system far from the Mediator. This solution also prevents the Mediator to became very hot.....

I have the idea in my mind. But, I don;t have any soldering skill. This is my problem.

Anyone help me....

I guess you need something like this huh? :P

Although you need thiner wires in order to be as lowest possible for the Mediator to fit just fine without issues
Only concern would be insulating a bit the Kickstart signals not to be interfered by outside noise. Its easier than it looks, it's just needs a lot of patience and time hehe :P

Mediator 1200TX-IndivisionAGA-FastATA MKIII

Hi,

Impressive

Yes, I need this, maybe a little bit longer cables, but perfect to fit the FastATA-MKIII far from the Mediator.

mfilos, do you know where it's possible to buy one solution like this?

If available I take two, one for me, second for my son (it's a 9 years boy, but also have an A1200, and love it).

Please....

Thanks

You can click on the picture to go to the original gallery thread in a.org. You can PM the member that made it in case he can make that for you.
It's not so difficult than time consuming to make though.

Mediator 1200TX-IndiviaionAGA-FastATA MKIII

I go to the original thread, but it´s a old project (2006).... Maybe I send a PM to the member....

Elbox guys and FastATA design......., only for 0.5cm it´s not possible to fit all cables and boards together......

OK, mfilos, thanks you very much.

If I find a solution I explain on this thread......

Mediator 1200TX-IndivisionAGA-FastATA MKIII

mfilos,

Yesterday I tested several possibilities and maybe I found a very good solution without soldering...

With three IDE cables of 40 pins (older ones, 40 cables) male-female, and four ROM risers, it´s possible to construct a extensor for the Fast-ATA MKIII....

I have a little IDE cable M-F 5cm and I test with a multimeter, all pins have connection.

But I have one question. Best for me, is cables 35 cm long to put the Fast-ATA secured in one side of my tower project.

35cm is too long? Maybe less, from 18 to 25cm?

Looking kickstart switchers, many of them have cables of 20cm. So, I know it´s not timming problems, that´s right?

I think 35cm is very long but I might be wrong. Best way to be sure is to test it my friend
That was a nice idea and will definitely work.

Mediator 1200TX-IndivisionAGA-FastATA MKIII

OK, thanks.

Today I buy cables from Amigakit 18 and 35cm and when received I test my idea.

So, I will explain my results on this thread.

I know this thread is really old, but did you (or any other) had success with relocating the FastATA with some cables?
Since I'm planning to do the same on my Amiga.
