Stryxx could be a good candidate for a sequel. It has all the requisite elements. It also has half decent gameplay, quite rare for psygnosis games.

I think its turning into a fairly decent homage to the original. The intro worried me because it looked like they changed everything, but the viewpoint and the parallax and te definite nods to stuff in the Amiga version, im hopeful now.
Still want the music to be more evocative of the Whittaker originals though. |

Nice. Least they didn't ruin it by making a new 3d engine. Kinda looks like how flashback was remade. Hope they release a demo.

Wow, Sony. Congratulations for not screwing up a classic by turning the whole thing into a third-person brawler, to appeal to a completely different generation of gamers.

Better than anticipated and indeed a remake. As many others, I was expecting some sort of 3rd person crap that doesn't even come close to the original.
So whats next Sony? Turrican? Lotus? IK+? |

Sony owns Psygnosis. So I dare say psygnosis games will only be remade. And of course team 17 games.
It would be really really nice if they include the amiga version in the remake as a hidden extra. Last edited by ransom1122; 17 April 2015 at 14:06. |

Mixed feelings myself...
Huge sigh of relief that it's not been turned into a God Of War clone (and i say that as someone who bought and completed 1st 2 games on PS2, 3rd on PS3, 1st PSP game then bought both HD collections, completed all the games featured again), but not really blown away by what they have done with it. It looks....nice...but i'd hoped for..stunning. I'm not a graphics tart (cue Sega spokesman Saturn era :-) for that phrase) and never thought there was really that much 'meat' to the Amiga original and never felt game was ideally suited to the atari Lynx, despite how technically great the conversion was (game simply not suited to handheld play, IMO), but dunno, PS4 simply not wowing me, hence sticking with trusty PS3. Plus, not sure why, but game has an 'Outland' (PSN/XBLA) vibe to it for myself, which is no bad thing as i love that game, but not sure i need another in that style. |

I would consider the gameplay footage 'comforting'. At least now we know it isn't going to be a total botch.
I would assume that the demo level is not an actual area of the final game, but was cobbled together to highlight the key mechanics that are in place: platforming, rhythm-combo combat, power-up techniques, 'puzzle solving' trap obstacles, wall jumping etc... The best part, for me, is the fact that Aarbron can vault over waist high obstacles (rather than having to jump). |

However, for some inexplicable reason my son had it in his head that he wanted Black Ops 2 for the PS3. It was cheap so I got it for him. Bearing in mind he's been playing Advanced Warfare on the PS4, he doesn't mind the lesser detail on the PS3. Well colour me shocked, because from the distance I was sat at, Black Ops 2 looked very nearly as good as Advanced Warfare did on the PS4. In fact there were times (as I haven't played either) that I had to ask him which one he was playing because I couldn't tell the difference. We're starting to get to an impasse now with graphics. Unless they produce something that can generate BILLIONS/TRILLIONS more polygons per second than the current generation, theres not going to be a massive step up between the systems games. Theres certainly nothing about PS4 Beast that doesn't suggest the PS3 couldn't do it. |

Agreed! I think I would have fun playing this game. But there's currently no need to buy a PS4 over it. The title is already unique to Sony, so why not spread the love and make a version of the new BEAST available on nearly every Sony platform? (in fact, it would almost be like a clever reference to all of the various BEAST port attempts back in the day) |

They also have to take good care of the music, which could prove even harder. If that fails, it will take everything down for many of us. Can't imagine a Beast with generic/uninspired music.

Yep this is true. I can't imagine what the PS5 or XBoxTwo?? are going to be using to make purchasing them essential for the buying public in the future. Certainly the next big step in console gaming will have to be 4k resolution gaming. This is currently only possible (at playable framerates) on the PC if you buy a super-expensive NVidia Titan card (or run two expensive GTX980's in SLI). I can actually see the console market winding down in a few years as it won't be able to compete with the PC and mobile platforms.
