Here are the steps I used to get mine working, might be some help:

1. Get cfd.lha (v1.27, the 2009 release) and fat95.lha.
2. From cfd, copy compactflash.device to devs:. Copy CF0 and CF0.info to devsosDrivers (if you don't want it to load at startup, copy instead to SYS:Storage/DosDrivers).
3. Extract fat95, and just run english/install_fat95 (or your language) from the icon. I didn't have to take any other steps.
4. If you installed cfd to storage, run the command line "mount cf0:".
5. Format your SD card under Windows to FAT/FAT16 (may not be necessary)

This worked on an A1200 with an IDE hard disk, both Workbench 2.1 and Workbench 3. I used a 1GB Corsair SD card and the MCR-5A 5-in-1 PCMCIA card.

Unfortunately I can't tell whether or not your card is compatible (has anyone else got the Sandisk one working?)

Thanx, these are exactly the steps I took for the A600 (on the A1200 I'm using ClassicWB which has both cfd & fat95 already installed).

I have 3 types of SD cards: 1GB SanDisk, 1GB Lexar & 1GB Lexar Pro x133 speed.
Since none of them work I have to assume the problem is either the SanDisk adapter, or maybe all my SD cards are not supported (less probable I think).

Hi again

I did some heavy googling on this subject recently & found several old discussions on various forums, discussing this same problem.
The concensus was that the CF cards in question are not compatible with the Amiga.
In some of the cases, changing to another brand/model solved the problem.

However, I've read a few claims that this "no disk present" error comes from the card reporting itself as a removable drive, not a fixed one.
Is there a way to overcome this?

I couldnt find CF cards for sale that are set to "fixed".
For example, on the Sandisk website there is a note that all their cards are sold with a "removable" factory setting.
They sell "fixed" cards only to OEM, in bulk.

There is one manufacturer (Sandisk? I don't remember) who supplies a PC-DOS utility to change his cards from removable to fixed or vice versa.

Hi thomas

Indeed they have, but they're not giving access to it anymore
I also read its very picky about which cards it actually works with (Sandisk voids any warrantee on the card if this tool is used on it), so even if I do manage to find it, I'll then have to risk buying a Sandisk CF without knowing if it would actually work.

I know a solution to the removable/fixed flag issue was found when dealing with the Amiga IDE (there's a patch for IDEFix), so I thought it might be possible to patch CFD with the same type of fix.

Sandisk CF Utility

http://rs168..com/files/10...8/ATCFWCHG.COM

I've just downloaded this, which seems to be the sandisk utility.
Haven't tested it as I'm not on my own computer. Norton doesn't seem to have a problem with it though.. I'll let you know I get on with it.
