I quit EAB

After the actions of someone today, i've decided I can no longer stay on EAB anymore.

I made a mistake SIX YEARS ago, I lost a disk to a game demo that can never be recovered, I was deeply sorry at the time, and am still sorry that I cannot undo what happened.

Someone who I respected as being tactful, diplomatic and above petty squabbles and generally an all round good bloke is determined that I will not be allowed to forget that mistake, and opted to do it in public in the least tactful and diplomatic way possible.

That I got this person so wrong bothers me personally, as I consider myself to be a good judge of character, even if my own character is flawed at times.

So with regret, I will be quitting EAB, and won't be entering into discussions or joining in topics any further.

I will still continue with Amiga stuff, and WHDLoad and doing any recracks of stuff, i've been doing it too long to just give that all up, but i'm afraid i'll no longer be doing it here on EAB.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

That's a shame. What happened? (for us who missed it)

Hey Galahad,

Please don't deprive the entire board of your future contributions to the Amiga community just because of one less than tactful remark.

Was it Cody's single post that force you to quit? Come on, this would be silly. Think about it, take some time and then return to EAB. I know you like to post here.

@Galahad (I hope you read this)

Please reconsider your decision, or at least return in the future. You are a valued part of the community. Please do not let one retard ruin it for the rest of us (And i challenge that RETARD to publicly tell us it was HIM who made you decide this, Well, i bet that will not happen, COWARD !).

Am I sorry for calling this person a Coward ?, No, because that is what he is. I am sure that this person has also made some sort of mistake in his lifetime, what... NO ? oh so that person is a source of complete perfection ? I guess the person involved has little or NO life other than his Amiga.

If you do not decide to come back Galahad (And I hope you do decide to come back), it has been an Honor having you as part of this community.

I'm very new here, but the threads I've read has given me a lot of respect for you Galahad.
It was a rash comment in public, but maybe it wasn't meant the way it was worded.

We all make mistakes...

I truly hope there will be future posts to read from you.

At least, you both agree on something : It was a valuable item !

It's hard to judge the nature of that "scene offence" after all these years. For what reason did the demo mean so much to the people who aren't happy because you lost it ? Was it planned to be released under the name of one or their group ? Is it because they were involved with the "leak" that allowed you to grab a copy of it ?

I suppose for someone like you, there would be many reasons to remain a member here on EAB, at least in what I call "read-only mode". The important thing INHMO is not to take things personally because some mod (if it is confirmed that the dude is indeed a mod) overreacts to that incident. Last and this is more something the aforementioned dude should take into consideration, loosing a rare item is rarely intentional and already involves some degree of self-blaming.

Hmm that is a big shame

I once lost an entire floppy disk worth of SY77 music - due to bad data -that had around 30 or so of my wip pieces- it happens. It cerainly wasn't on purpose and i still feel foolish for not looking after the disks.I'm just glad i didn't lose any more- all my music was stored on Amiga floppies that had been copied to several times already, and it pains me thinking potentially how much more i could have lost, particularly as they weren't very well kept either

Yeah these things happen but it would be a big shame not to see an important part of the eab community here again

No point crying over spilt milk (or lost disks).

I once wiped out a day's work by copying an older version of the files over the top of a network drive....how we all laughed in the office.

This is all over a lost floppy disk? What was it? I mean, were they launch codes? Were they top secrets proving the 911 conspiracy theories? Or was it some data for a 15 year obsolete piece of hardware?

Sorry to trivialise it, but surely nothing can be all that bad?

Farewell Galahad. Also hope you change your mind and clear the stuff with Cody (have to search for the post now...). Either way take care and indeed thanks for all the fish

Edit : Hmm... Not sure if the post by Cody was meant the way you read it. Really think it's worth to have a word before leaving because of it mate
