Putty Squad - Physical Release!

Set to be used as special pledges in our upcoming Amiga book Kickstarter campaign, 100 physical replica copies of Putty Squad for the Amiga are set to be produced.

These 100 copies will come in authentic replica packaging on actual Amiga floppy disks. Bitmap Books have gained exclusive permission from System 3, with special mention to Galahad of course, to produce these copies of Putty Squad and will work with them closely to ensure that the final packaging is as near as possible to how Putty Squad would have looked if released in 1994.

50 of the 100 copies will be signed by the original Putty Squad development team.

Commodore Amiga: a visual Commpendium

Commodore Amiga: a visual commpendium is Bitmap Books follow up to their hugely popular debut book; Commodore 64: a visual commpendium. Following on from the C64 book, the Amiga book will focus on the visual side of the computer featuring stunning pixel art, game maps and box art. It will also showcase the best software houses on the Amiga and is set to feature the Amiga demo scene.

The Kickstarter campaign starts on the 13th October and runs for 30 days. So far, some really exciting contributors are lined up and Commodore Amiga: a visual commpendium is set to be Bitmap Books biggest project yet.

If you want to take a look at the Commodore C64 book, or find out more about Bitmap Books check out www.bitmapbooks.co.uk & www.funstock.co.uk to buy the book.

** While I know the Putty Squad saga was controversial on here, as a fan of the game series even I will be pledging to get a boxed version!

An Amiga CD32 release of Putty Squad would be be nice to see and would most likely be easier to get more copies made in 2014, somewhat ironically.

Super Putty CD32 aka Putty needs a sequel.

Unfortunately the memory requirements make it not likely. There is no physical room left in RAM for the CD32 system to exist as well.

nice, it'd be a shame if they go with the later PS3/XBox artwork from a purist point of view. I wonder if box artwork exists for the 1994 release?

We'll do our best to keep it authentic, however I'm not sure at this stage what assets are available.

does decompiled RNC loader not fix this ? I remember other users using a loader to recover
memory for AGA titles I think System 3 use a custom loader for their CD32 games.

I think something creative could be done to allow it work

Yes that's the one. I have spoken to System 3 and this is indeed the artwork that 'would' have been used if Putty Squad was released.

Hopefully will get my hands on it soon. Wilshy and myself are planning to make every aspect as authentic as we possibly can :-)

Probably a silly question, but if the music was CD audio instead wouldn't that free up some?

It would need a complete rewrite of the game imo.

No. You would need to use the system to be able to play audio tracks.

I did look before into using the RNC CD32 loader, but its trackbuffer memory requirements were quite high.

maybe collaberation with other whdload authors would help , I have seen the impossible become possible. Psygore is good at reducing memory requirements on games

a official CD32 release would be amazing.

Directly accessing CD32 hardware to play CD32 CD audio is relatively easy. (EDIT: and won't require any buffers)

Also writing custom CD32 CD "trackloader" is not that difficult either, just extremely boring.. (because you can only get raw 2352 byte sectors, you need to do error correction and other stuff to get proper 2048 user sectors..)

It was part of the Amiga Book Kickstarter campaign. You can't buy it officially.
