ClassicWB (3.9) Directory Opus....

Hi

I've got ClassicWB installed finally, and very nice it is too. I have also purchased Dopus Magellan II 5.8. Is it necessary/possible to uninstall the built in Version, or will 5.8 write over the top ?

cheers

Andrew

Doesn't it say anything in the manual about upgrading an existing installation?

Ah now you see thats where I am struggling - I dont have a manual. Before you shout "pirate!" - its a perfectly legal version paid for and supplied by Greg Perry @ Gprsoft. The method of delivery was via Email - 3 lha archives (Dopus, Magellan and then Extras). As far as I can tell there isn't an electronic version of the manual included (!) in any of the archives. I suppose I can email and ask, but was wondering if anyone could shed any light on how Dopus is integrated in CWB.

Andrew,

Thanks for the payment.

Install Opus 55 first then Magellan. Then register it with

Yes, I remember seeing that you had bought the full version from Greg Perry @ Gprsoft (but I can't find the thread now - have you deleted it?), so that's why I assumed you had a manual for it.

It might be worth emailing Greg to ask, or perhaps you could find something by Googling.

Bloodwych is the man to answer your questions regarding integration of Dopus Magellan and CWB.

I've done just that hehe Emailed Greg explaining that I use a Custom workbench with 4.xx built in and want to know how to update without ending up with 2 versions installed

Google wasnt really my friend... Nearest I got was:

http://www.gpsoft.com.au/amiga/magellan/html/index.html

In the "Starting" tab there is a linkie which teases "Converting your DOpus 4 to DOpus5" - which, although what I want, sadly goes nowhere.

I didn't delete the post - IIRC it should be in the "What did you buy today" thread....

EDIT yep Lookie

cheers

Good luck with that!

Thanks for the links!

That area is not exactly brimming with user support information...

...and that's really nothing more than an explanation of the advantages of upgrading!

but at a guess they both should work fine. cant remember its been a few years but think dopus5 uses the assign dopus5, have boot up amikit to be sure

edit:
yep it uses dopus5: as an assign so shouldt muck opus4 up

Hey Andrew,

On this page:
http://www.gpsoft.com.au/amiga/magel...usordform.html
under Product types:
(a) Opus 5.5 280pp manual and disks PLUS Magellan-II Upgrade (b)
(b) Opus Magellan-II Upgrade disk + 120 pp manual

So there are some manuals!

Edit: Found one!

Oops! Sorry about that. I really thought I'd cracked it, so didn't look too closely...

Hmm... I think that's your best hope, unless he says "You should have gone for the printed manual and CD option!". (I suppose he could yet offer you an "upgrade".)

Sadly they dont sell the Manual/CD option any more, the Amiga related purchase info is bollox ...... I wish they would either update the site or take it down.

From the Man himself:

Andrew,

Yes you can still buy the last DOpus Magellan 5.82 version from us but only
by special quote. The price is Australian Dollars $65.00 for electronic
delivery via LHA archive.

I've issued you with a quote....[/snip]
Which was basically a manually created invoice to be paid by credit card through their sales section... he then emailed me the archives and a key once payment had cleared.

Ok Playing with this again......

Dopus 5.8 seems to install as a workbench replacement (either that or its Magellan that does this)... which is not what I am after (obviously). Soo I guess I need to find out how bloodwych installed 4.x in Classic WB and if a similar setup can be achieved with 5.8 Magellan... I cant see why not. Yes the integraded Dopus 4 is still there but 5x kinda screws up my CWB install with its magic WB stuff ..... ergh.

Bloodwych where are yooo??? !

Is that a hint as in "You can't" make it work with CWB... or ...

"You have to fiddle with your startup sequence"

Hi
It´s possible to run DOpus 4.x directly in WB screen without opening his own screen like DirWork does?

Dopus 5.xx installs a replacement for the "LoadWB" command, it should make a backup of the original "LoadWB" during installation AFAIR. So you can just copy the original LoadWB command over the Opus5.xx one and Dopus shouldn't start as WB replacement anymore.
